台灣自古就是獨立王國，一萬年前的高山族，7、8千年前的平埔族統治台灣、澎湖，比中國以黃帝起始的4,600年歷史多了一倍有餘。

1596年豐臣秀吉招降台灣，稱台灣為「高山國」；1609及1615德川家康派兵騷擾台灣，稱台灣為「高砂國」。

西 元1624年荷蘭入台後台灣始有歷史記載，後世才知當時已有王國，拍瀑拉平埔族（沙鹿、龍井、清水、大肚Tatutum）為首，史家稱為「大肚王」，勢力 涵蓋中彰投的貓霧拺族（Babuza）、雲嘉的洪雅族（Hoanya）、豐原、東勢的巴宰海族（Pazeh）及竹苗的道卡斯族（Taokas）等。

亦即，從新竹到嘉義的平地，都是這個王國的範圍。因外來政權企圖併吞台灣，滅國先滅史，所以學校不教，台灣人當然不知自己的歷史。

由於平埔族沒有自己的文字，所以世人對「大肚王國」所知不多。1990年代研究台灣歷史的學者們重讀荷蘭的檔案，終於讓我們對這個王國有較深的了解。

根據由荷蘭東印度公司資料編撰的《熱蘭遮城日誌》及蘇格蘭人David Wright的記載，1630年代在台灣中部曾出現一跨族群的領導者，外文資料稱其為King of Middag（大肚王）。

1722年(清康熙六十一年）巡台御史黃叔璥寫了一本《台海使槎錄》，書中說：「大肚山形，遠望如百雉高城，昔有番長名大眉」，這裡所說的番長即是「大肚王」。雖然華人對「大肚王國」所知不多，但大肚王在當時可是國際知名的，因為:

荷蘭人稱他為Keizer van Middag

英國人稱之為King of Middag

德國人稱之為Keiser von Mittag

福佬人稱之為Quata Ong

而原住民則稱之為Lelien，意思是白晝之王或太陽王。

Middag王外出時會有一兩位隨行者，他不允許基督徒住在他轄區，以及任何一位通譯學習王及其人民的語言，僅准許他們通行而已。

17世紀的大肚王統治中台灣15至27個社，出入皆有人為他抬轎，不同於一般部落的地方領袖。

根 據中村孝志和許賢瑤以及翁佳音的研究，「大肚王國」統治的範圍除了拍瀑拉族的Sada（沙轆，今之沙鹿）、Boedor（水裡，今之龍井）、 Derdonsel、Goema（牛罵，今之清水）及Middag（大肚）等社群外，還有巴布薩（Babuza）、洪雅（Hoanya）、巴則海 （Pazehhe）及道卡斯（Taokas）等平埔族的社群。

Middag是其中最大且最好的社，也是王國首府。王國的轄區在現今大肚溪以北、大甲溪以南的台中沙鹿、梧棲和清水一帶，即台中、彰化、南投一帶。

荷蘭人在1638年就知道台灣中部有個大肚王，但因拍瀑拉是一強大的族群，對荷蘭人的反抗相當頑強而激烈，故荷蘭人無法順利地由南往北拓展。

1644年9月荷蘭上尉 Piter Boon 奉命率兵遠征基隆、淡水，因遭遇拍瀑拉族的強烈反擊而未果。1645年1月Piter Boon再度率兵前往征戰，Quata Ong不敵，乃在van Breen牧師的居中協調下臣服於荷蘭東印度公司。〈按：此段錯誤，是荷蘭無法攻克，相持不下，雙方死傷不計其數，因此荷蘭人派牧師言和後退兵。〉

同年4月7日荷人召開南部的地方會議，Quata Ong也前往，與東印度公司訂約，表示臣服。大肚王國自此進入半獨立狀態，直到西元1662年荷人離台為止。〈按：此部份存疑〉

大肚王之役

http://www.taiwancon.com/wp-content/uploads/auto_save_image/2012/03/180335B3H.jpg而漢人對平埔族的第一次大屠殺始於「開台聖王」-鄭成功，當初鄭成功強迫平埔族勞役，由於過於殘酷壓迫，導致平埔族反抗，其後果是大屠殺。

西元1661年，鄭成功率領兵艦開進鹿耳門溪，從北線尾登陸，鄭軍圍困熱蘭遮城，第二年2月荷蘭人投降結束了三十八年的統治。

《熱蘭遮城日記》記載：1661年6月3日前幾天，明鄭帶了2千人及30名荷蘭俘虜出發到島上的番社，想要試探一向對荷蘭人表示友善的大肚王是否有歸降之意。大肚王的臣民先提供鄭師士兵的索求，待鄭軍鬆懈之後率番丁突襲鄭營，並事先告知荷蘭俘虜以為應變。

當夜發動攻擊，約有1500名士兵被殺，其餘躲入甘蔗園逃生，大肚王放火燒園迫使殘軍出來，予以殲滅。

此一戰役也記載於《諸羅縣志》及《苑裡志》等書，並在民間廣為流傳，直到近70年前才為人所淡忘。

重新發覺的這段史料，台灣史上最早反抗「外來政權」的光榮戰役，其紀念價值並不亞於霧社事件，是台灣史上值得紀念的一天，他考證大肚王之役的時間應為農曆的7月21日或國曆的8月15日前後。

被原住民打敗的鄭成功憤而遷怒於荷蘭人，於是下令把荷蘭人與傳教士釘在十字架，又把懷孕的荷蘭婦女剝腹，取出胎兒洩恨。而大肚王的族人對鄭軍的抵抗並未停止，也從來沒有歸順明鄭，因而揚名於海內外。

鄭氏政權變荷人的間接統治為直接統治，平埔族人不能忍受鄭氏政權的奴役時，反抗就起來了。如1661年大肚社之役(此大肚係在赤崁一帶)、1670年沙轆社之役、1682年竹塹、新港等社之役。然而，弱勢的平埔族，每一次的反抗，只有引來更殘酷的屠殺。

荷蘭人敗退換了「鄭氏王朝」，鄭氏立刻對平埔各族進行迫害，甚至滅社屠殺，鄭軍傾力強佔平埔各族的土地，即：「以各社土田，分給水陸諸提鎮……令兵丁俱各屯墾。」(海上見聞錄)更分遣官吏，向平埔各族徵收重稅。

沙轆社大屠殺

西元1670年，劉國軒出兵消滅拍瀑拉族沙 轆社「番」，番俗六考約：「沙轆番，原有數百人，為最盛，後為劉國軒殺戮殆盡，只餘六人，潛匿海口。」大肚社「番」懼怕而逃入埔里，「………鄭氏繼至，立 法尤嚴，誅夷不遺妻子………，今大肚、牛罵、大甲、竹塹諸社林莽荒穢不見一人………」(裨海紀遊)。最悽慘的，要算是沙轆社了。

沙轆社原本有數百人，可是被鄭成功的部將劉國軒一進去之後，殺得只剩下6人，連小孩都不留。

永曆三十六年(西元1682年)，鄭軍差派道卡斯族「土番」供勞役，接運米糧軍餉，只因為道卡斯人習慣用頭頂或背部載重，不會漢人以肩負重的方式挑物，竟然遭受鄭軍無情的鞭撻。

誠如潘英在《台灣平埔族史》一書中所說的：「鄭氏對平埔族而言，不僅是第二個外來政權，而且是不公不義的暴虐政權。」鄭成功的暴行比荷蘭人還可惡~

從明鄭到清雍正年間，大肚王國一再被外來政權侵擾，平埔族人之土地也被漢人佔領，致生活困難，五個平埔族乃於清道光三年 （1822年） 遷移至現在的南投埔里。

沙轆之役是漢人入墾中部之濫觴，其發生和後果很像1947年的二二八事變，都是外來勢力以平亂為藉口，以優勢武力大量殘殺在地人，使在地人從此一蹶不振。

鄭據台二十二年屠殺不斷，台灣頭到台灣尾，血跡斑斑記於史冊：

（1）諸羅（嘉義縣市）不歸順者盡殺。

（2）搶佔水沙連（林圯埔至斗六間）住民之地不從者殺。

（3）登陸車城鎮壓瑯嶠（恆春）。

（4）屠殺屏北居民記在「番俗六考」。

（5）追殺北港溪上游雲嘉交界之住民。

（6）攻殺台南赤嵌住民占據臺江沿岸，載於「臺灣外記」。

（7）「番俗六考」又記：「沙轆原數百人，為最盛，後被鄭遣劉國軒殺戮，只餘六人，潛匿海口」。

（8）踏平貓兒干南社（雲林崙背褒忠），屯兵於黃地崙。

（9）鄭經趕殺竹山住民。

（10）「海上事略」載：「偽鄭守雞籠，凡需軍餉，悉差土番（住民）接遞，男女老樨供役，督運辦日酷有加，施鞭韃，因相率為亂，殺諸社商往來人役，新港仔、竹塹等社皆叛。鄭克塽令左協陳絳率兵剿擒，土番（住民）盡遁入山」。

平埔族消失了嗎?

「大 肚王國」立國多久？之前是否還有其他王國曾活躍在台灣的土地上？這些都尚待歷史學家去考證。但就信史可徵的部分來論，我們可以確知「大肚王國」是台灣有史 可查的第一個王國，是真正屬於台灣的本土政權，不同於荷蘭人的東印度公司、西班牙人的聖救主城、明鄭的東寧王國、日本人的總督府、蔣介石的「中華民國」等 外來政權。

平埔族已經漢化，大量的平埔族女性和漢族移民通婚，導致現今大部份漢人都具有平埔族的血統。漢人與平埔族通婚所生子女，父系社會的漢人認為他們是漢人，但母系社會的平埔族仍然認為他們是平埔族人，因此古諺說：「有唐山公，無唐山媽；有平埔媽，沒平埔公」。

根據馬偕醫院輸血醫學研究室主任林媽利的「非原住民台灣人的基因結構」研究，在台灣，雖然只有一點五％血統純正的原住民，但其實有八十五％的閩南人、客家人有原住民血統（包括高山族、平埔族，以及菲律賓、印尼等東南亞島嶼族群）。

林媽利說，這項研究的結論就是，八十五％的台灣人帶有台灣原住民的血緣，也就是由平埔公、平埔嬤、唐山公、唐山嬤（唐山是指福建、廣東）、高山公、高山嬤及少數外國基因一起建構。

故十七世紀平埔族人所建立的「大肚王國」乃是今天許多台灣人的母系祖先所建立的王國。

因此，台灣人要建立自己的國族認同，「大肚王國」的存在是一個不能忽略的起點，也是反駁中國和國際社會「一個中國」原則的有力論點。

我們說台灣原本不屬於中國時，「大肚王國」的存在就是一個有力的證據。現在的台灣人不論新來後到怎能忘記祖先曾經建立過的「大肚王國」呢？

國際社會怎能聽信中國的一面之詞，認定台灣自古是中國的一部分呢？
