全球溫室氣體排放有18%來自動物養殖業, 超過所有的車, 卡車, 船, 飛機與火車的總排放量.
18% of all global warming-causing emissions come from animal agriculture – more than all the cars, trucks, boats, airplanes and trains in the world.
動物排泄物產生甲烷, 甲烷的溫室效應是二氧化碳的23倍, 也會產生氧化亞氮, 氧化亞氮的溫室效應是二氧化碳的296倍. 還會產生氨, 氨會造成酸雨, 使生態環境酸化. 溫室氣體排放, 三分之二來自牲畜.
Animal wastes produces:
Methane: 23 times more potent than emissions from cars and other transportation.
Nitrous oxide gas: 296 times more potent than emissions from cars and other transportation.
Ammonia emissions: Contributes to acid rain and acidification of ecosystems. Almost 2/3 of emissions are from livestock
