Soft191 RAM Defragmenter v1.02

Soft191 RAM Defragmenter v1.02

If you are running low on memory, you can use thissoftwareto release a few extra megabytes of RAM

It is essentially a memory defragmenter which will allocate some RAM, makingWindowsswap all data in RAM to the swap file. The memory is then released, so Windows will restore the data to RAM without any fragmentation.

The program resides in the system tray, and can be started automatically when Windows starts. You can defrag memory from the system tray pop-up menu if you want to.

It also displays information about RAM, the page/swap file and user-address space allocation. There are two ’active’ gauges which display real-time memory and CPU usage.
To defragment a specified amount of memory

Enter the amount of megabytes (MB) to release in the "Options" dialog. This must be a round figure (should not include fractions) and be between 1 MB and your total RAM (e.g. 1024 MB = 1GB). Then click the "Specified" button. The program will attempt to release that amount of memory.
To defragment all memory

Simply click the "All" button to defragment all memory.
Automatic defragmentation

You can make the program defragment RAM when the RAM drops below a certain MB value (specified in options). This way you can have the program start up with Windows and run in background automatically. Don’t make this value too high as defragmentation will occur repeatedly, slowing down your computer. If you have 1GB of RAM, set the value to around 150 or 200 MB. It may take some experimentation on your part to find a figure best suited to your computer.

During any defragmentation you can press the "Stop" button to abort the process. The defragmenting may take a few seconds to stop.
