I.       Program description

 

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering offers on-campus graduate programs of instruction and research leading to the degrees of Master of Science (M.S. - thesis based), Master of Electrical Engineering (M.E.E - non-thesis.), and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Instruction is offered and research facilities are available to support graduate study in automatic controls, communications, wireless engineering, digital systems, electromagnetics, electronics, and energy conversion and power systems. Additionally, individualized programs that cross the traditional boundaries of engineering, mathematics, and the sciences can be accommodated.

III. Admission requirement

Entrance Requirements

ü        B.S. degree in ECE or closely-related field from an accredited program

ü        GPA of accepted applicants usually > 3.0
lower GPAs can be offset by outstanding GRE scores and/or recommendation letters

ü        GRE general test

ü        TOEFL exam (international applicants)

V.     Additional note for Int’l Applicant

English Proficiency

All applicants MUST SUBMIT an OFFICIAL score on the TOEFL directly to us from the ETS or IELTS. Exemptions are considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on their official government language and medium of instruction.

l          Applications CANNOT be considered until one of these test scores has been received in the office of the Graduate School .

l          There can be NO EXCEPTIONS and there can be NO SUBSTITUTIONS.

l          Students MUST SCORE at least 550 on the paper TOEFL (pBT), 213 on the computer TOEFL (cBT), and 79 on the internet TOEFL (iBT) or 6.5 Overall Band Score on the IELTS to be considered for admission. On the iBT, students must score a minimum of 16 on the four component parts of the iBT (reading, listening, speaking, writing). Some departments require higher scores, but ALL must meet the minimum requirements.

Financial Sponsorship

The ESTIMATED TOTAL COST in the U.S. currency for attending Auburn University for one year, 2009-2010, is $36,197.

n         We regret that the Graduate School has no funds for scholarships or fellowships and cannot guarantee any form of financial aid.

n         Address inquiries concerning other forms of financial aid to the head of the department in which you wish to major.

n         Applicants MUST DEMONSTRATE the availability of adequate financial resources to meet personal and educational obligations. The properly completed "Official Statement of Finances" accompanied by certified evidence of your sponsor's financial capability MUST BE filed with this office before an admission letter and your I-20 Form can be released.
