辛普森的黃色幽默...

Hey, you know that? The Simpsons has become the longest-running comedy in the history of television. The Simpsons is a cartoon about an American family of five. Here they are, Marge a housewife, Homer, a worker of a nuclear station, Bart a trouble-making fourth grader and his sister Lisa, who’s highly social-conscious second grader. Then, there’s Maggie who always keeps silent and sucks her pacifier all the time.
The Simpsons is a reflection of American’s life. Homer Simpson often gets drunk and behaves in a stupid way, but he works in a nuclear power station. Everybody cares about the safety of that, but it’s under a dumb guy’s control. Sound ridiculous, right?
Bart Simpson has been ten years old for eleven years. He has been misunderstood as a troublemaker and underachiever (a kid with lots of blackboard punishments and foul words), but don’t forget that he’s in a sense a good kid. He had ever injected romance into the life of his teacher, Edna Krabappel. In addition, one time he brought down an illegal French winery during his short stay abroad. We can even say he’s both good and bad.
Simpson grandpa is placed in a retirement home for not being a burden, or even a nuisance. They one time placed him in the backseat of the car. Also, when he talks, nobody listens to him. In a word, like his situation, Americans generally don’t respect their elders.
Despite those negative comments on American, the Simpsons also provides some positive comments. Lisa Simpson can be an example of positive side. She’s honesty, friendly and concerned. There’s a billionaire in the town who lost his fortune. Lisa helped him to get his money back by establishing an environmental-friendly company. We see a strong sense of society through her eye.
Marge is like many real mother who’s been taking care of all her family members, even small things. She has a strong sense of moral. Whenever Homer did something wrong, she always tried to stop him, but that’s usually in vain. Quite a pity, isn’t it?

By the way, do you ever notice that: there’s no laugh track in any episode. Unlike other comedies, it is you that decide when to laugh. The Simpsons has over 300 episodes. It seems American likes to laugh at themselves.
