back from spring break
Just got back from MD two days ago. It was fun in the east coast. went to NYC three days by myself (*proud*). planning the places I wanted to go,the place I was gonna stay at,and everything.I have been to the city for twice before, but I am not really familiar with the streets and stuff. However,(luckily)i didnt get lost and I went to the places I wanted to go.
Got to NYC around noon on sunday. got off the bus, walked out of the station....and it was ”WOW” in front of my eyes.It was the 42nd street in NYC. everything was amazing and i really enjoyed the view of the one of the biggest cities in the world.the signs for the stores or for the ads were so HUGE and so BRIGHT and there were so many people. Cars everywhere. Havent been in a big city for a while,so everything was kind of new to me. I went to Greenwich directly where my hotel was located.I dont know how many blocks I have passed, but finally I got to the destination. I was damn tired, so I rested in the hotel for a little bit and I started my trip for exploring. I walked around the Greenwich Village where NYU is located. There were a lot of interesting stores, coffee shops, and etc. I got my dinner, veggie pita,at the market(kind of saturday market.) the buildings in there were very classic.very european style. it was like i was in an old place, whcih was so COOL. took some pics of nice posters.
the second day I went to MOMA(museum of modern art) in queens.I took the subway to there. it was so cool. i was taking subway by myself in NYC!! saw many cool artworks in the museum, including some of the famous pop artists, like, andy warhol(my favorite).the thing that surprised me was that we were allowed to take pictures inside the museum,so I of course, took the pictures of the works of Andy Warhol’s. Man! so cool!
After the museum,i went to time square and the fifth ave. didnt shop much;only took some nice pics and enjoyed the view.
the third day i went to SOHO.I was on Broadway, the main street,i guess. there were a lot of interesting shops, too.I went to the museum of contemporary art. it was showing John Water’s works, which were mostly films. it was interesting, though. The buildings in SoHo were factories once and now they are all for shops.so it has a unique feeling. stickers everywhere. a cool culture. grafitti.....
about 5 in the evening,i left the hotel and took subway to the station and went back to MD.
I like the international culture in NYC. there were so many foreigners there. i could hear so many different lauguages spoken when i walked on the street. I also like the cool ads(posters,signs...) in the city. and, countless interesting things happened in there.
i guess it wont be that hard for me to live in NYC coz I am originally from a big city, too.I know how it likes to live in a big city, and I know how to live in a big city.
