i hear that distance lullaby
and felt that sudden warmth of love
i saw my mother’s gentle smile
and smelt that nice shampoo

its my mother i thought about
when things weren’t going well
and its my mother who’s been right here
in sickness and in health

i hear that sound of a distance groan
and felt that passion of love
i saw him standing at the back
and smelt his nice cologne

its was daddy who have been here all along
and brought me up with pride
it was daddy that taught me how
to get through daily life

its him and her who’ve given me life
and taught me all the rules
and it was him and her who’ve lead me through
all the ups and downs

and i shall never forget
that lovely smile on her face
and neither shall i forget too
how satisfied he really was

and though i’ve grown into a girl
and learnt the way of life
but still they stand by my side
holding my small hand

and they’ve said it again and again
that i’ve grown up quite well
and that mummy and daddy would always be here
and i shall worry not
