Vancouver’s annual fireworks celebration has returned with a new

name and new competitors.
 
Now called the Honda Celebration of Light Festival

(previously sponsored by HSBC),

the event will feature entries

from Brazil, Italy and Vietnam beginning July 28 and running until Aug. 4.)

Brazil brings a fireworks carnival to the skies over

 English Bay on the second night of this year's Honda

Celebration of Light event Wednesday,

August 01, 2012 in Vancouver, B.C.

Sherry and her friends who are  from Taiwan and Japan.

The festival, now in its 22nd consecutive year,

consistently shuts down traffic in the West End as viewers flood

 the beach near English Bay for an up-close view of the pyrotechnics.
 

Had reading two books and some newspaper .

 Brazil’s Group Vision Show will perform on Aug. 1 and Pirotecnica Soldi of Italy will round out the competition on Aug. 4.
 
The competition will begin at 10 p.m. each night, rain or shine,

with music simulcast on Shore 104.3 FM.
 
A winner is to be announced Aug. 6.

We have been waiting for fireworks for  six hours at English Bay.

Kitsilano Beach, as well as any highrise condo, also afford

 incredible views.

The fireworks were a carnival, lighting up Vancouver's

 skyline with colours and 'wow' from joyous crowds.

This will mark the first time in six years that Canada is not represented at the event.
 
The 2011 spectacle saw China beat Spain and Canada for the title.
 

There were tons of people dash on the streets after watching fireworks.
