Regional Tasting Lounge
Contemporary regional cuisine:
menu highlights two regions from around the world which will be refreshed
every three months, with British Columbia being a consistent regional highlight.
One of the newer addition to Yaletown, r.tl brings a sharing style array of smaller,
as well as larger dishes, featuring flavours of a new region of the world every season.
r.tl is open for dinner from 5pm, 7 days a week.
Currently featuring Basque, Morocco and Coastal British Columbia,
r.tl brings you dishes and flavours from 3 regions of the world at any time.
With plates meant for sharing,
r.tl offers versatile tastes and flavours and a unique experience.
The room itself—beyond the sliding, tinted-glass front door—is muted, modern, and grown-up.
The food concept—a revolving array of regionally based small plates—is where things could get tricky.
There’s a West Coast side to the menu,
and a side that changes every three months.
(If you enjoyed, say, the salt-cod fritters and pork alentejana
on offer when Portugal and France were featured,
you may hanker for them while perusing the Spanish and Middle Eastern
offerings that show up next time.)

love their cheese cake!
The service is reliable,
the wine list imaginative, the prices reasonable.
The question is whether a fresh dining concept can separate
this elegantly imagined restaurant from its Yaletown competition.

The bar, at the far end, is just right for perching, sharing cocktails, or dining solo.
r.tl has a new concept that lets the ingredients, recipes, and traditions of fine regional
cuisines of the world appear in the easily accessed (and perhaps more affordable)
realm of its sleek, laid-back dining room. r.tl is called a “regional tasting lounge” for a reason,
as the restaurant rotates its menu every quarter through different culinary locales,
choosing two complimentary world regions to accompany the local fare of Coastal British Columbia.
Currently r.tl is featuring Portugal and France along with the BC region.
My friend and I were really amazed by the taste of the Duck Liver we ordered.
The drinks list at r.tl is extensive, including a selection of hand-picked,
rare wines and cocktails from around the world.
