Robert asked his old neighbor, ”Mike, we have been neighbors for more than forty years and I have never seen you argue with Linda. I always wonder why.”

Mike said, ”I learned my lesson during my honeymoon.”

”How so?” asked Robert.

”We went to a canyon for honeymoon. We rented donkeys and rode one each. Linda’s donkey was tried, so it paused. Linda said, ’this is your first time.’ She whipped the donkey and the donkey started to walk.
After a while, the donkey stopped again. Linda said, ’this is your second time.’ She whipped the donkey and the poor thing walked once again.
Finally, the donkey was exhausted and stopped, Linda said, ’this is your third time.’ She took out a pistol and shot that donkey.”

”我們蜜月旅行時去一個峽谷, 所以租了兩頭驢子, Linda 的驢子累了停下來, Linda 對它說, ’這是你的初犯’ 然後她鞭打它, 驢子就開始走。
一會兒, 驢子又累了不動, Linda 對它說, ’這是你的二犯’ 然後她鞭打它, 驢子又開始走。
最後, 驢子太累了, 又停下來, Linda 說, ’這是你的三犯’ 然後她拿出手槍把它斃了。”

”How cruel,” said Robert.
”好殘忍呀!”

”Exactly, that’s what I thought. So I said, ’honey, the poor thing was just tired, you don’t have to do so.’ She turned to me and said, ’this is your first time.’ ”
”對呀, 我也這麼覺得, 所以對她說: 親愛的這樣不太好吧! 有點殘忍!
她轉頭對我說: 這是你的初犯”
