In the Greek mode of thought, logos and mythos never had a complete parting of hte ways. When one weakened, the other stepped in to reinforce it. When doubt crept in, the logos tried to reconstruct the universe out of pure reson,and when it ran its full cycle back to the skeptical starting point, mythos tried to restore belief in the old images of the word.
