Customer：I can't seem to find a price on this item. Could you tell me how much it is?
顧客：我好像找不到這個東西的標價。你可以告訴我這要多少錢嗎？
Clerk：Sure. Let me scan it. The price comes up as NT$140.
店員︰當然。讓我刷一下條碼。顯示出來的價錢是 140 元。
Customer：That's more expensive than I thought.
顧客：那比我想的還貴。
Clerk：If you don't want to purchase it, I'll put it away for you.
店員︰如果您不想買的話，我會替您放回去。
Customer：Thank you. I don't want it, so that would be nice.
顧客：謝謝你。我不想要了，請替我放回去吧。

★The price comes up as NT$140.
顯示出來的價錢是 140 元。
The/Its price is + 價錢它的售價是……元。
It is priced at + 價錢它定價為……元。
以下為刷條碼機後所使用：
The price comes/shows up as + 價錢
= It comes for the price of + 價錢顯示出來的價錢是……元。
The scanner reads a price of + 價錢條碼機所顯示的價錢是……元。
The computer says it’s + 價錢電腦顯示它是……元。

字字珠璣
★expensive a.昂貴的
例：A brand-new apartment is too expensive for Kenny. He only earns NT$20,000 a month.（一間全新的公寓對肯尼來說太貴了。他一個月只賺2萬塊。）
△inexpensive指東西不貴，但品質未必很差；而cheap通常指物品價格低廉且品質低劣。
expensive, inexpensive以及cheap是用來修飾物品，而不可用來修飾價錢（price）；價錢的昂貴或便宜要用high或low來修飾。
例：The price of this book is low.（這本書的價錢很便宜。）
★purchase vt.購買，採買（= buy）
例：Rosa purchased a lot of canned food for her family before she went on vacation.（羅莎去度假前幫家人採買了很多罐頭食品。）
★put...away/put away... 把……放回原處；把……收拾好
例：Dan’s mother always gets angry when he refuses to put away his toys.（阿丹不肯把他的玩具收好時，他媽媽都會很生氣。）
