【在生活中學習語言】〈 職人英語通〉視而不見 聽而不聞 Turn a blind eye (deaf ear) to something/someone

其實語言間存在著很多的共通性，常常我們會很驚訝地發現，中文裡的表達方式跟英文其實是大同小異，甚至完全一樣。而諸如此類相似的俚語，對正在學習英文的我們來說，就特別容易記得住。

「視而不見」就是個好例子。中文裡，這句話的意思是說明明張著眼，眼睛卻好像是瞎了、沒看到似的；英文裡則說 " turn a blind eye to something "（對某事張著一隻瞎的眼）也就有異曲同工之妙了。

同理，如果形容某事或某人是「豎著一隻聾的耳朵」（turn a deaf ear to something/someone），也就是中文說的「聽而不聞」囉。

Sandy：I just can’t help but wonder how you could still be so calm and cheerful since that long-legged bitch keeps bugging you like that.

Sandy：我真無法想像，那個長腳賤女人不時找你麻煩，你怎麼還可以這麼冷靜又愉快。

Kiki：Well, I was a bit upset and emotionally disturbed in the beginning.

Kiki：唉，我一開始是有些沮喪，而且情緒深受影響。

Sandy：And then? What did you do?

Sandy：然後呢？你做了些什麼？

Kiki：It’s not that hard actually. I just turned a blind eye to her so she became invisible to me.

Kiki：其實也沒那麼難啦。就假裝視而不見囉，那麼她對我來說就好像不存在似的。

Sandy：But she likes talking to you all the time, there’s no way you can get rid of her.

Sandy：可是她又老愛找你講話，根本擺脫不了她啊。

Kiki：Well, I also turned a deaf ear to her so I’m doing quite ok. You should really try my coping mechanism. It works quite well.

Kiki：那我就來個聽而不見，所以我覺得還好。倒是你該試試我這樣的應對辦法。很有效呢。
