Gay Pride Parade

It's time to show off!

The gay Pride parade was held on Rene-Levesque Street, from Guy Street to Berri Street. The attractive performances were those shows from different groups or clubs. Like procession, there wre some floats where performers with stylish costumes danced. Some extraordinary costumes were worn by men who dressed up as women. For example, they had fake breasts wore wings and skirts. They caught a lot of reaction from the crowd where people took their pictures.

I saw people of different races, genders, and ages. This is Montreal's pride to have such a liberal atmosphere respecting freedom of people. I believe that not only gays and lesbians took part in th eparade, but also the heterosexual did.(But my English teacher didn't think so.)

The groups performing came from communities, activities clubs, or were sponsored by companies. The groups of communities were composed of five to fifteen people hanging banners whcih indicated their communities. Some activity clubs, such as volleyball, soccer, water activity, and badminton, gathered their members to walk in this parade. I think it was a good chance for companies to advertise their products because I saw COKE and MOLSON DRY employing terrific dancers in order to catch the crowd's attention.

Not only the performers created the success of the parade. The watchers who applauded and whistled responded to the paraders and completed the entertainment. Four girls standing infront of me danced to the music, whistled and cheered at the paraders. It was my first time to see this kind of parade because I always had seen it on television and I had enjoyed it.
