An apple hanging
So tempting on the branch yet
Juicier in my mouth.
Tiptoe on my toes
Not within the reach of my hand
Disappointment soars.
Up there a squirrel
With one bite of his sharp teeth
Down the apple falls.
Apple in my hand
More delicate than I thought
Is the kind squirrel.
