Life & Death
The moment I put my fingers on this computer keyboard, I felt relieved. I am still alive in this world.
This is rather a true story of my own, just took place few days before. It was 21/9/2006, around 1.14pm at the school nearby. I haven’t thought that I would be facing such cruelty fate that fell upon me. That afternoon just as I have finished my lessons, I followed my friends went over the school to Jamillah shop to have our lunch. I have an uneasy instinct as I don’t usually get to follow them for lunch but I did. It was where the incident took place.
The road was facing a severe traffic jam as my friends and I was about to cross the road. We flew without bothering the cars coming along. It’s like human are tougher than a car made of steel. With running and hurrying, we crossed the half road and wait at the traffic light to change green for pedestrians but we all seemed to have no patient on waiting for such thing. By seeing and judging tat the road is safe enough to take a bold cross as the car coming nearest to us is half a kilometer away, we all made a decisive decision on taking a quick step on crossing the road which our goal is just a stone away from us.
Just as we have nearly reached the other side of walking path, an unsuspected object flew towards us in a full speed. In horror, I saw all my friends were acting strangely and stepped aside as if a VIP is coming. As the last person that get out of my sight and had made my sight clearer on what was actually happening at that moment. That particular friend had been knocked slightly by something and he shouted loudly. The eerily sounds alarmed me from what was going on.
As the last friend stepped aside as if had been knocked down, I saw a motorcycle flew fully in my direction making me had no idea to escape myself from tat situation. ‘I’m dead this time’, I told myself as I saw the motorcycle. Suddenly a sentence flashed through my head saying, ‘You cannot die yet, it’s not your time yet for the moment’. As if I was wake up from a deep dream, I kept telling me to think, think and think on how to survive from this situation. Think, think, and think, Edward Chong, you can do it~! As I decide to step to the left, the motorcycle followed me to the left; as I step to the right, the motorcycle followed me to the right. As I was making those useless decision, the time is becoming shorter and shorter as the motorcycle came nearer and nearer.
The motorcycle was now then in the three steps in front of me. I was still struggling between live and death. I can’t die now. Just in the last seconds, a thought came through my mind telling me to spin on the ground for 360 degree. At that very seconds, I have no choice for if I made a wrong decision, I’ll be knocked down by the motorcycle. And I will be dead. At last but not least, I did spin. Everything went black when I spinned. The motorcycle ‘brushed’ through me and knock on my left leg.
When I opened my eyes, I can see tat I’m still alive, been blessed by God as I have more important reason for me to stay alive from this very situation. I had just realize tat I hadn’t take in any breath from that moment when I saw the motorcycle coming towards me. Phew~ as I took a deep breath. I kept telling myself that I’m still alive.
That incident from the moment I saw the motorcycle had only taken 1.932 seconds but I have found the meaning of life from that situation. Stay alive in this world is the most wonderful thing in this world. By been dead, you can’t have feelings on hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch. It’s all gone. Even your most precise people around you just seemed vanished and evaporates in that moment when u closed your eyes and rest in peace.
I have not telling many people about that incident and you guys are lucky passers by which manage to stop by and have a minute to read my story. You will really benefit from it and learn that why don’t take a rest in your busy life and appreciate the people and things around you where all were disappeared when you are dead.
Still last and simplest, ALL LIVES ARE PRECIOUS.
