what is time

以下是第一篇 英文長寫 算是記錄 更是作業一項

Time

What is time? The Oxford English Dictionary defines time as “a limited stretch or space of continued existence, as the interval between two successive events.” To put it differently, time is a similar number representing a specific point on this continuum, recorded in years, months, days, hours, minutes, and even seconds. With these diverse measuring units, time is like an unceasing documentary, which not only records every creature’s evolution from a macro perspective but witnesses chronic historical events about tiny human beings from a micro one. Likewise, as mortals, people of different ages regard time as relatively different significance. Take a shy and fresh speech competitor for example. One five-minute speech on the stage might enlarge as two years long for him. Yet, passionate couples always mourn their pitiful short romantic time to embrace and kiss each other even if they had spent the whole day dating. Therefore, time is absolutely bestowed on with different definitions and meanings with diverse individuals and conditions.

Shall we imagine how crucial a second is? Just ask a racerunner who lost the competition by only half a second. Can we picture how precious a day is? Maybe a soldier who took a day off from his miserable military service days could realize it. Despite the fact that time varies its significance in people’s minds; nonetheless, the only thing that won’t alter is that time always passes ahead of us and never comes back. It is a nonstop documentary.
