BJ Diary for Man
Landlady→L
Jo→J
Chris→C
J: (Singing with the music) I am 39 years old. No lover. My friends are either unhappily married or happily divorced. Just only me, no one knows me.
~ Couple days later ~
(Landlady and Chris enter)
L: (take a flashlight out of Joe’s room) Hello? Is anyone there?
C: Nobody’s there! See, no light.
L: But I heard voices.
J: Hey guys! It’s me, Jo. Come in.
C: (look around) What are you doing in the dark, Jo?
L: Hey, don’t you lock your door?
J: No, only whenever I think of it.
C: Hey man, you shouldn’t take any chances. You know there’ve been a lot of robberies in this neighborhood lately.
L: (look around) So messy! How can you live in such a garbage room?
C: Well, I think it’s just all right, my room looks like this sometimes. Maybe just a little better...
L: Jo my dear, I would like to talk about all that noise you were making last night.
J: Oh yeah, Mrs. Water I’m really sorry about that. But I love this song. Listen! all by myself I don’t want to be …
************************************************************************
L: Jo!! Enough, thank you.
J: Oh, sorry. I’ll turn off the radio.
L: I didn’t mind all the music, but the other people lives here can’t stand any more. I’m the landlady, if there is any problem or complain, I’ll have to do something. Hope you can understand.
J: Yes.
L: So, I’m afraid that you have to move out.
J: Are you kidding, Mrs. Water. You can’t kick me out! Not right now!
I have no place to go. (with tears in the eyes) At less you should let
me stay until I get another place to stay.
L: Sorry, Jo. This is the last thing I would do to you. I have no choice.
J: Well, fine. This is a changing world, people become cool and no sympathy at all.
C: What happen? Jo you look terrible, what’s wrong?
J: Nothing – But Mrs. Water just kicked me out of the building.
I have to move.
C: Did you say no? I don’t want you to leave!! Let me think. I have a good idea.
(Chris and Landlady leave Jo’s room for a while and come in with a birthday cake.)
***********************************************************************
C & L: Happy Birthday, Jo. It’s a surprise!!
J: Oh! You shouldn’t have. It’s my birthday?! How nice of you guys, what a very sweet surprise!
L: Am I still cool for you?
J: No, you’re very nice and kind to me.
C: Come on body! I want your birthday kiss.
J: Wow!! Hold on! Hold on! Let’s just save that for next year.
J: (look at the landlady with pleasing eyes) Mrs. Water, I have
something I want to tell you, I really want to stay here. Please forgive me and give me another chance. I promise I’ll be good.
No more noise.
L: It’s all right. Chris just explained it to me. I’m sorry I misjudge you.
C: Huh? What did Chris say to you about me?
L: Well, you don’t have to know. I just want to tell you that you can stay
whenever you want. But first you have to clean this room as new as nobody lives here.
J: Really? I can stay? But you just said I have to move out!
L: You can forget what I said before. We hope you’ll be very happy here, my dear.
J: Oh, you’re so nice. But I still don’t know why.
L: Just ask Chris.
J: (look at Chris) How did you get her to change her mind?
C: Easy. I just convinced her that you are a respectable and hard working man.
J: And that’s all?
C: Not completely. I also told her that you want to ask her out.
J: I what? My goodness!
