Vision (1)
Where there is no vision, the people perish.--Proverbs 29:18
Everybody ends up somewhere. A few end up somewhere on purpose; they're
the ones with vision. A clear vision along with the courage to follow
through, dramatically increases your chances of coming to the end of
your life, looking back with satisfaction and thinking, "I succeeded. I
finished well. My life counted; I made a difference." But without a
clear vision, odds are you'll reach the end and wonder if your life
really mattered at all. Vision gives meaning to otherwise meaningless
details. Let's face it, much of what we do each day doesn't appear to
matter a lot when evaluated apart from the bigger picture. But take the
minutiae of any given day, drop them into the cauldron of a God-ordained
vision, stir them around and suddenly there's purpose! Worth!
Adrenaline!
It's the difference between filling bags with dirt or building a dyke to
save the town. There's nothing glamorous about filling bags with dirt,
but saving the town is something else altogether. Building a dyke gives
meaning to the drudgery of filling bags with dirt. And so it is with
vision. Too many times the routines of life begin to feel like
shovelling dirt. But take those same routines and view them through the
lens of a God-given purpose, and suddenly everything looks different.
Vision brings your world into focus. It brings order to chaos. It
enables you to see everything differently. So, do you have a clear
vision for your life?
