繼去年的「斷背山」，李安的作品還是有點偏心地成為我的第一名，但本片的傑出大家有目共睹，除了梁朝偉、湯唯的精采演出和優秀的整體演員，技術層面也延續了李安作品一貫的高水準，曾拍出至今公認最佳珍奧斯汀改編電影的他，再度成功地挑戰被眾導演視為難度極高的張愛玲，這部他導演生涯的第十部作品也儼然成為他晉升大師的里程碑。

After last year’s “Brokeback Mountain,” Ang Lee’s film still a little partially becomes my No. 1, but everyone sees the brilliance of it. Except the remarkable performances by Tony Leung, Tang Wei and the outstanding ensemble cast, the technical level continues the high standard that always exists in Lee’s films. Being widely considered to make the best movie adaptation of Jane Austen by far, he challenged Eileen Chang who is seen as extremely difficult to adapt by directors successfully once again, and this 10th piece of his directing career also becomes the milestone of uprising as a master.

髮膠明星夢 (亞當軒克曼，美，2007)
Hairspray (Adam Shankman, US, 2007)

老實說在年初時，我完全不看好本片會是一部佳作，因為導演一向是以拍「限制級褓母」、「我的野蠻網友」這類商業片聞名的，即使本片是改編東尼獎最佳音樂劇，但當美國開始不斷傳出好口碑後，我也越來越好奇。果然活力四射的熱情和一首接一首滑稽卻好聽的歌曲，令本片擁有時下音樂片少有的高昂精神，完美的整體表演和深具社會意義的訊息令人在歡笑之餘也帶有感動。

Frankly, I don’t expect this movie to be good at all at the beginning of the year, because the director is always famous for the commercial movies like “The Pacifier” and “Bringing Down the House.” But when the wonderful reviews started to come out from the States, I became more and more curious about it. Just like my expectation, the highly vital passion and the funny but great songs make it have the high spirit that the musicals nowadays seldom do. Perfect ensemble acting and the deeply socially meaningful messages make audience move while being entertained.

4月3週又2天 (克里斯汀穆基，羅馬尼亞，2007)
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (Cristian Mungiu, Romania, 2007)

本片可說是今年影壇最令人驚艷的作品，來自東歐的羅馬尼亞，本片的高品質比起電影水準頗高的西歐是有過之而無不及。取材自80年代緊張政治及社會局勢下的小人物故事，雖然劇情極為簡單，但甚至現在來看仍有深遠的社會意義。傑出的導演功力和優秀的演員，令每一幕都緊扣著每一位觀眾的心弦，直到劇終仍久久不去。

This film can be said as the most surprisingly good work of the year. Comes from Romania in Eat Europe, the high quality of it is even better compares West Europe’s high standard filmmaking. Based on the common people story under the tense politic and society status in the 80’s, though the plot is very simple, it still has a far and wide social meaning even to see at the present. Excellent directing skill and outstanding actors keep audiences hooked up with every scene, and it still won’t go away after the end.

小太陽的願望 (強納森戴頓、薇樂莉法瑞斯，美，2006)
Little Miss Sunshine (Jonathan Dayton, Valerie Faris, US, 2006)

從去年日舞影展首映後，本片的好口碑便綿延不絕，甚至最後還入圍了四項奧斯卡，包括最佳影片，並奪得兩項大獎。但到底是什麼讓本片這麼受歡迎，除了性格鮮明且可愛的一家人，在單純故事背後傳達的正面訊息更是一大主因。在這個競爭無所不在的世界中，從本片獲得的廣大迴響可知，大家還是渴望能擁有一顆互相關懷的心。

After the premiere at the Sundance last year, the great reviews of the movie just comes along one after another, it even got nominated for 4 Oscars, including Best Picture, and won 2 awards. But what exactly makes it so popular, except the characterized and adorable family members, the positive message behind the simple story is more of a major reason. In this world that competitions are everywhere, from the general response to this film, everyone still eager to have a heart that cares about each other.

The Lives of Others (Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, Germany, 2006)

對非共產國家而言，冷戰時期的東德曾是一個神秘的世界，但在德國統一多年後的今天，當初的面貌不但早已公諸於世，甚至還有一些仍不為人知的故事。作為第一部劇情長片，導演傑出的才華就以表露無遺，而這個也是他編寫的劇本忠實表現當時的社會狀態，透過極具張力的劇情，人性的複雜和光輝也在一個時代交替中更令人動容。

Michael Clayton (Tony Gilroy, US, 2007)

今年才以「神鬼認證」完結篇獲得高度評價的編劇，順勢推出這部他的首部導演作品，片中的劇情設定不難令人聯想到「永不妥協」，但有著更冷酷犀利的社會批判。喬治克隆尼、湯姆威金森和蒂達史雲頓這三位本屆奧斯卡準候選人，使本片的的精采程度更上一層樓，同樣地，本片再度以一個簡單的故事表現電影藝術的純粹。

Just got highly acclaimed by the finale of “The Bourne Trilogy,” the writer releases his first directorial feature following right after. The plot setting is not hard to remind people of “Erin Brockovich” but with a colder and more precise social judgment. The three Oscar candidates to be, George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson and Tilda Swinton make the brilliance of the film even higher. Once again, it presents the purity of film art by a simple story.

Tuya’s Marriage (Wang Quanan, China, 2006)

標準的中國淳樸鄉村故事，但還是有它的過人之處。生活無欲無求卻面臨生活困境的小人物，仍保有生存的尊嚴，但即使在一件事圓滿落幕後，人生就是有接踵而至的煩惱。忠實表現蒙古地區人民生活的樂天知命，余男自然而深刻的演出是全片重心，繼賈樟柯後，本片再度代表著中國新生代導演的承襲，中國電影的品質正在不斷地進步中。

A typical Chinese earthy country story, but it still has its better part. The undesirable common people facing the difficulty of life but still keep the dignity of living. Only even after one thing ends perfectly, life just gives you more troubles. It presents the easy satisfaction of the people’s lives in Mongolia. The natural and deep performance by Yu Nan is the heart of the film. After Jia Zhang Ke, it represents the inheritance of the new generation of Chinese filmmakers once again. The quality of Chinese films is constantly improving.

料理鼠王 (布萊德博德，美，2007)
Ratatouille (Brad Bird, US, 2007)

「超人特攻隊」的成功已是有目共睹，未料博德再接再厲的本片竟能獲得更好的口碑，承襲皮克斯一貫傑出的動畫效果，故事一樣生動有趣，透過一隻老鼠想當大廚師的故事，表達小人物也可以出頭天這個百說不厭的訊息，加上設在巴黎的背景，在觀眾被娛樂於驚喜連連的情節同時，也能享受浪漫的異國情調，或許博德可以考慮製作非皮克斯出品的「鐵巨人」續集了。

The success of “The Incredibles” is already well known, but unexpectedly, this project that Bird worked on right after it gets even better critics and responses. Following the outstanding animation effects that Pixar has always had, and the story is as much as vivid and interesting. Through the story of a mouse who wants to be a big chef, it expresses the reprising message of little men can be successful. Plus the background set in Paris, while the audiences are entertained by the continuously surprising plot, they can also enjoy the romantic exotic atmosphere. Maybe Bird can considered to work on the sequel to the non-Pixar production “The Iron Giant.”

羊男的迷宮 (吉耶莫戴托洛，墨西哥，2006)
Pan’s Labyrinth (El Laberinto del Fauno) (Guillermo del Toro, Mexico, 2006)

戴托洛在好萊塢奮鬥多年後重回故鄉自邊自導的力作，就像柯恩兄弟的新作「險路勿近」一樣，雖在坎城影展失利，卻在國際上獲得極高的評價，令戴托洛蛻變為藝術與商業兼具的導演。帶有濃厚黑暗色彩的童話故事，設在西班牙法西斯時期的內戰背景，融合豐富想像力及歷史投射，同樣投射納粹主義的「地獄怪客」今年推出的續集已是備受矚目了。

After fighting in Hollywood for many years, it’s the hard-effort work that written and directed by del Toro who returned to his country Just like the new film by Coens “No Country for Old Men,” although it didn’t win at the Cannes Film Festival but is highly acclaimed internationally, which makes del Toro became a director of both art and commercial. The fairy tale with a thick dark tone, the background set in the civil war in the time of Fascism in Spain, combines rich imagination and historical projection. The sequel to “Hellboy” which also projects Nazism is already highly anticipated.

黛妃與女皇 (史蒂芬弗瑞爾斯，英，2006)
The Queen (Stephen Frears, UK, 2006)

精采的劇本和海倫米蘭出神入化的詮釋就已經極具看頭，享譽盛名的弗瑞爾斯終於在沉寂多年後以本片東山再起，甚至被邀為2007年的坎城影展主席，不同於一般歷史劇，本片描述的正是當代大眾熟悉的英國女王伊莉莎白二世，和面臨黛妃意外身亡時期的決策和輿論心境，除了一睹高高在上女王私下的面貌，也為君主的風範作了一個完美的註解。

The brilliant script and the incredible interpretation by Helen Mirren are already very seeing-worthy. The highly acclaimed Frears is finally back after down for many years and even got invited as the head of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival 2007. Unlike the regular historical dramas, the film is exactly about the British queen, Elizabeth II, who is well-known by the contemporary public, and the final decisions and public opinions she had to face after Princess Diana was killed in an accident. Except taking a look at the private side of the untouchable queen, it also makes a perfect note for the model of a leader.
