2009 – Comingsoon.net has reported that a new adaptation of King Lear is in the works. It was recently announced at the Cannes Film Festival that Anthony Hopkins will appear in the title role, with Keira Knightley as Cordelia, Gwyneth Paltrow as Regan, and Naomi Watts as Goneril. The movie is to begin shooting in Britain or Ireland in early 2009.
