now, from telecom to oil......

在新聞充滿MJ掛掉的一天,挖點舊聞來看看,其實也是新聞

Ericsson的CEO Carl-Henric Svanberg明年要去BP當chairman了
"Mr. Svanberg will take on the position of course in a extremely challenging environment for the oil industry."

多似曾相識啊,S先生大概是挑戰上癮

John Kilduff from MF Global : I think his lock experience obviously makes him a KEY choice if u will...(S先生的過往"鎖匠"的經驗要跟著他一輩子了,一直被分析師拿來做雙關) But I think when you're dealing with an enterprise as far front and huge as BP, you are looking for those managing skills that can be mapped over in that sort of enterprise, certainly Ericsson is that. ......

Guy (host) : It's very much a diplomatic job though, isn't it? This is a company that further down the road will need more reserve, the reserve tend to increasingly be dominated and held by national governments, and increasing their difficult or more difficult places. Is he the kind of guy that can get on there on the international stage? How's his rollerdecks, do you think, do you think he has the necessarry contact to make this work?

John Kilduff : Yes, I would say yes because the same sorts of difficulties of accessing property and resources in various countries, really are part of what goes on in a celluar company such as Ericsson. You're dealing with governments to get bandwiths, you're dealing with governments to get cell tower site, it's the same sort of resource aquisition in foreign countries for what BP needs to do. So I think in that regard, his experience, not only, he has much greater challenge, if you ask me, with Ericsson than he does with BP. ......

Martin (host) : ... I look at BP sometimes and I see they don't handle big-picture stuffs particularly well, they're sometimes a bit flat footed with this. You can't say that Mr. Svanberg is the first choice, I mean we've seen a couple of names floating around for months now, both of them comes from basic resources sector, from BHP and from Rio Tinto. It kinda feels to me like they didn't get the man they wanted, neither from the sector, nor their first choice.

John Kilduff : There's no doubt about that, it is a bit of out-of-the-box choice. ...... I think you have a real fixer there, who's going to slim it down, and look... really identify and focus on the bottom line returns......
