Dear colleague,

I am delighted to inform you that your paper has been accepted for the Annual Meeting of BAAL at Newcastle University in September 2009. We received an increased number of papers this year, many of high quality and relating closely to the theme of the conference. We were only able to accept 50% of all abstracts received. Your submission, the rating panel felt, would make a substantial contribution.

If you are unable to present, we would appreciate it if you could contact us within the next week or so.  If we do not hear from you within a week, we will assume that you will attend the conference and give your presentation.   'No shows' cause conference attendees to waste valuable professional development time and reflect poorly on the overall quality of the conference programme, and on our profession. This year, we rejected a number of proposals that were submitted last year but were 'no shows'. We recognize that last minute problems can occur that may prevent you from presenting, and so we ask that you contact us immediately if circumstances prevent you from fulfilling your commitment.
