My Piano Teacher

                  My Piano Teacher

When I was in Canada, I had a piano teacher. His name was Robert. The first time I stepped into Robert’s store, I saw pianos everywhere. There was only a small path about one person’s width leading to his piano room and other rooms for students to practice. There were prices on the pianos. He sold used pianos.

Robert is a Russian piano teacher. He has blond hair and is a bit fat. He also has the smell of cologne. My dad told me he has more than 300 students, I thought that was a lot.

When I just started learning piano with Robert, I wasn’t used to the way he taught me. He was strict for the dynamics of the music. He also told me how I should practice in order to improve my piano skills. I thought it was hard. But I did what he said.

Later, I got used to the way he taught me and his expectations. And I started liking how he teaches me, probably because I improved a lot during the time Robert was teaching me. When I first started learning with Robert, I was only in grade 4. Though he only taught me piano for two years, but he made me go from grade 4 piano to grade 9. I thought it was pretty amazing that Robert can let me improve so much in only two years.

Sometimes during my piano lessons, customers would come to look at the pianos. Robert would go outside to tell them about the piano, and I would practice a little myself. Later, he always added time to my lesson.

When I had lessons early in the morning, there would only be one car in the parking lot----Robert’s car. He was the first one there. The other shops on the sides weren’t opened yet. But Robert was already starting his first lesson of the day.

Robert always has a bottle of cologne on top of his piano. So every time I went there, I could smell the scent of cologne. Sometimes when my lesson was late at night, he would spray some cologne into the air to keep himself awake. I think Robert is very hard working.

I think Robert is a fantastic piano teacher and a great pianist, too. I learned a lot from him and I’m thankful for him. It’s too bad I can’t learn with him now. But if I have time in the summer, I would want to go back to Canada to learn with him.
