A price for a naughty trick

“HELP! HELP! Stop chasing me! STOP!” shouted Ted, a child filled with curiosity and loved to take adventures. He ran so fast and tried to escape from a large group of bees. So, except Ted, everything seemed peaceful in that Sunday afternoon… “That’s all my fault! I promise I won’t throw stones at the hive AGAIN! Someone please help me! HELP!”

With his sharp scream, Ted was running to the harbor. And heard Ted’s call for help, Mr. Martin, Ted’s uncle, was fishing on the boat and he shouted at him, "Go dive into the river, the bees can’t sting you if you are under the water. Quick!" Without thinking too much, Ted followed what Mr. Martin said and jumped into the river. The angry bees hovered over the water and seemed to wait for Ted, but after awhile, they flew away. Therefore, Mr. Martin threw a buoy to Ted and pulled him out of the muddy, smelly river. Ted gasped for fresh air and said, “Thank you, Uncle Martin, you saved my life… You are my super hero…”

Mr. Martin frowned to Ted and said, “Did you throw stones to the hive AGAIN, right? It’s not your first time to do such things, when would you get a lesson?” Ted blushed and replied, “I PROMISE, I WON’T do it anymore!” Mr. Martin said, “OK, I hope you remember your promise this time.”

Ted wanted to say something more, but he felt itchy and painful, so he bent his head and wanted to find out what happened. And he noticed that some parts of his body had started to swell. He shouted, “What’s going on? My elbows, my knees, they are swelling! How come? Uncle Martin, what should I do?”

Mr. Martin laughed loudly and said, “Silly boy, some bees stung you. The only thing you have to do is take off all the dirty clothes, take a shower, and go to bed. You will recover in a couple of days. Don’t be so naughty again; I think you have learnt your lesson, right?” “Yes, I have learnt already, Uncle Martin,” said Ted embarrassingly.
