Tasting – 2012 TSMWTA 五月份社團品飲 主題: Tamdhu
1. Tamdhu 1991~2006.6 15yo (58.9, Cadenhead Authentic Collection,318b)
C: yellow
22 N: banana cake, mango? Passion fruit, cream, lemonade, citrus, cinnamons, star fruit
21 T: medium, dry, spicy, good impact and texture, banana, star fruit juice
21 B: good balanced, easy to drink
2. Tamdhu 1989~2011 21yo (50%, Old Malt Cask, Sherry Butt,C#6956,154b)
C: deep amber, red brown, some green at the edge
20 N: a little sodium, match box at begin, deep sherry, some plum, obvious ALC, dry fruits, raisin
21 T: medium, very dry, good impact, ripe citrus, plum, still sodium, dry fruits with some mint
20 B: balanced, need some time to let the sulphur spread out..
3. Tamdhu 1989~2010 20yo (56.1%, Douglas Laing's Platinum Selection, Sherry Hogshead)
C: deep amber, some green at the edge
22 N: some colored bobs (soap)? Deep sherry, plum, caramel (crème brulee), dark cherry chocolate, dry fruits, concentrated, then obvious ALC, plum, but with some splendid bloom some
22 T: full, a little burned plastic (acceptable), dry, ripe plum, dark chocolate, some fresh mint, good impact and texture
22 B: good balanced, hint of sulphur, good layers and complexes, still variant, strong, worth to be matured for more years, need more time to enjoy it
4. Tamdhu 1971~2011 40yo (43%, Gordon & MacPhail, Macphails Collection )
C: yellow
21 N: medicine powder, lemon peels, a little citrus, cinnamon, grass, tangerine, then some green tea, followed by some flora, star fruit, similar to club’s selection of 2011
20 T: full, round and smooth, a little spicy, tropical fruits, almond slice
21 B: good balanced, less complexes but express the typical Tamdhu
5. Tamdhu 1962 (43%, Gordon & Macphail)
C: dark amber, green at the edge
22 N: grapefruit, orange, ripe prune, honey apple, a little ripe tomato? Cinnamon, figs, very fruity
22 T: full, round and smooth, very fruity, a little dry, cinnamon, prune
22 B: very good balanced both for N & T, good tannin and extension, like the old
6. Tamdhu 1987/2010 22yo (49.5%, Blackadder, C#3754, B#33/272, Hogshead)
C: amber
21 N: some vanilla, honey, cream, citrus, tangerine juice, new furniture, a little sea wind, some tiny salty and dry fish? The cask?
22 T: medium, dry, very dry and oil, good impact and texture, apricot, a little powder, white fruits comes up
22 B: good balanced both for N&T, good extension and complexes, nice bottle!
7. Tamdhu 1984 26yo (48.4%, Exclusive Malts, C#2833, 214Bts, Hogshead)
C: yellow
21 N: walnuts, cinnamon, biscuits, caramel, followed by some citrus, vanilla, grass, ripe green apple, very fruity, a little medicine powder
21 T: medium, warm and tender, round and smooth, some powder, moss, ginger, citrus, malty, a little vanilla, cream
22 B: good balanced both for N&T, still active, very easy to drink, although there is still some powder which I did not enjoy.
