1. Ardbeg 1972/2003 49.9%
C: straw, gold
23 N: beautiful white flora, elegant and smooth peat, melon peels, some apricot, tangerine juice, a little liquorices and seaweed, deep, splendid and very good layers
23 T: full, neat and rounded, a little lemon peels, pears, some bitterness of tangerine peels, seaweed, biscuits, salty, white pepper and spicy, very good texture
23 B: very good balanced both for N $ T. very easy to drink, the 1972 seems always to have some magic formula
2. Ardbeg 1972/2004 44.2%
C: straw
23 N: Some banana oil, lemonade from begin follow by some almond cream, biscuits, then some pears, nutmeg, sea weed, very beautiful, elegant and neatly mild peat. Fragrance
23 T: full, smooth and round, oil, mild, moderate peat, embedded some lemon peels (green and fresh),a little grassy, salty, beautiful peat sweet, thick but mild mannered.
23 F: long, dill, nutmeg, white chocolate, white pepper, ginger, even some cigarette, smoke(like silk) comes up from throat, good extension, some wonderful tannins still effete at the end
23 B: very good balanced both for N&T, the old style Ardbeg, classic, no stress at all, very enjoyable, still active! The most silk like and mild peat sweet ever.
3. Ardbeg 1973/2004 49.5% OB C#1146 219Bts Managers choice but for
C: gold
23 N: A little ALC comes up from begin, some dry fruits, tangerines peels, lots of peat smoke fair, follow by some ripe lemon juice, medicinal, liquorices, then some camphor, eucalyptus, almond, complexes
24 T: full, round and more bold than prev. lots of coal smoke, heavily peat, pepper, salty, very good impact, some tangerine peels, white chocolate (or even mocha) in the middle of tongue, very good texture
23 B: very good balanced both for N & T. still classic Ardbeg, heavily peat, more juicy and fruity than prev. I can’t hold it!
4. Ardbeg 1973/2009 36yo 44.7% DL Old & Rare Platinum 78Bts
C: straw, gold
23 N: ripe green apple, melon peels, some grassy, w/ a little peaty, nutty, peppery, then some fresh prune, tangerine juice, ground seaweed, and fresh moss
23 T: full, sound and smooth, splendid in the middle of tongue, very good texture, a little liquorice, white chocolate, pepper, peaty, and a little bitterness of tangerine peels
23 B: very good balanced both for N & T, very good texture and also for drink. What a beautiful bourbon cask, wonderful old style Ardbeg
5. Ardbeg 1975 43% Speymalt Whisky Dist. Spirit of
C: yellow gold
21 N: ripe apple, orange juice, smooth and elegant peat, hint of longan, then some ripe peach, orange, a little seaweed at the end
22 T: full, round and smooth, more and more peaty comes up, but not heavy, ripe apple, orange peels, good texture
22 B: good balanced, easy to drink, few variant at the for this old bottle, pity..
6. Ardbeg 21yo 56.3%
C: gold
22 N: pear, peach, lemon peels, followed by some ginger, pepper, then some camphor, peat, sea weed, phenol, polish, tar, hint of sulphurs
23 T: medium, some ALC, good impact and texture, peaty, salty, creamy, very oil, good tannins and peat smoke in the middle of tongue
22 B: good balanced both for N & T. At the meridian of its life, better for palate. Reminds me the Mor?
