Calling Elvis - Dire Strait
呼叫貓王
說起Dire Strait 險峻海岸這個團體，對於愛好西洋音樂的＂老一輩＂的人來說，確實是如雷貫耳。對於在那一個古早一點點時候，很多人開始注意西洋音樂，即便是不是很有研究也對於余光有認識。那時余光所主持的閃亮的節奏電視版出來的時候。所謂的MTV 也算是剛剛萌芽。對於很多製作不甚精良的音樂錄影帶，ＭＴＶ只不過是一些歌星出新歌時，在鏡頭前搔首弄姿，配上一些不太連貫的鏡頭，剪輯而成的打歌廣告片。對於很多早已忘懷的MTV，還可以記得的是Paul Young 的Every time you go away 的飛機起飛鏡頭，是Wham 的Wake me up before you go go 阿哥哥舞步，是A-ha 那漫畫與真人交錯演出的Take on me。還有就是險峻海岸在棒球場，主唱Mark Knopfler 赤腳唱出Walk of Live。Dire Strait還有一首經典歌曲，就是對於這些會損人智商與商業掛帥的MTV 批判的 I won’t bye MTV。這個MTV 還使用電腦動畫，畫出搬運工唱著, ＂我不會買MTV 因為我還有電冰箱要搬…..＂
當然，經典畢竟是經典，在2004年這時聆聽Dire Strait 的1994年On The Night 現場演唱會DVD。一樣會有新感受。這首Calling Elvis 就是在Elvis Presley 貓王死後所寫。對於很多無法接受貓王已逝的人來說，也許我們還可以打個電話給他。他不過是在一個我們看不到他的地方。他的經典歌曲當作可以找到貓王的呼叫密碼。有趣的是我們這些樂迷似乎在也找不到這麼偉大的音樂經典，更有趣的是險峻海岸也可以為著失去的經典，再度譜出這麼貼切與動人的故事和旋律。
