他們的故事是怎麼開始的呢? 想當年 Ryan Ross 十二歲的時候 在拉斯維加斯 Las Vegas, 向他父母要的聖誕禮物是一把吉他。然後, Spencer Smith 向他父母要了一套鼓, 所以他們才能夠一起練習。Spencer 說 「那個時候我們所做的都只是參照 Blink 182 的曲風。」 不過他們技巧越來越成熟, 加上 Brendon 主唱 跟 Brent 貝斯手的加入, Panic! At The Disco 人就這樣都到齊了。他們是從 鼓手 Spencer 的 祖母家客廳開始一起練習的, 慢慢的, 他們開始對 Fall Out Boy 的 Pete Wentz 的 Record 公司(http://www.fueledbyramen.com/) 有興趣, 因為這家公司給了他們很多自由 且開始發掘新音樂。
他們被簽下後, 就開始往專輯努力, Spencer 跟 Brent 高中畢業而 Brendon 則是半工半讀。至於 Ryan, 他決定在大學的第一年放棄學業, 而這也使得他與他的父親吵了一架。在沒有 Ryan 父親的支持下, 四個好朋友離開家裡, 在製作人 Matt Squire 的指導下朝著他們的首張專輯著手。(Matt Squire 指導過 Thrice, Northstar, The Receiving End of Sirens )
他們最喜歡的樂團是 Fleetwood Mac 與 Counting Crows。最後他們回到他們的家鄉, Las Vegas, 並舉辦了一場演唱會 (實際上, 這是他們第一場現場演唱會)。 兩百多個人出席, 包括他們的雙親及 Ryan 的父親!! 就是在這個時候 Ryan 的爸爸了解了, 他們的音樂是極有創作力的, 且成為了官方樂迷俱樂部裡的一員。
