Skip Schumaker今天(27日)在第9局再見安打一棒解救球隊，紅人以2比1險勝落磯，終止最近17年最慘的9連敗。
打完前8局1比1平手，9局下開局Marlon Byrd選到四壞球保送，下一棒Kristopher Negron犧牲短打推進跑者。
此時紅人啟用代打Schumaker，他敲出三壘方向小飛球，飛越三壘壘包之後剛好落在邊線內側，幸運地形成再見安打。
「我只是試著撈到球，沒辦法正確掌握擊球方向。」Schumaker一棒終結紅人近17年最慘的9連敗，他說：「大家都需要一些笑容。」
紅人總教練Bryan Price表示，「我希望這能讓選手減輕壓力，讓球隊重新享受比賽的樂趣。」
