鋁門把手---攻守俱佳 里歐納德飆32分

賽前獲頒年度最佳防守球員獎殊榮的里歐納德，隨即在家鄉父老面前證明他能守也能攻，全場18投13中，攻下季後賽個人新高32分，帶領衛冕軍馬刺100比73擊潰來訪的快艇，季後賽首輪2比1領先。
里歐納德本季場均16.5分、7.2籃板、2.5助攻與2.31次抄截，都創下個人生涯新高，同時也獲得例行賽抄截王頭銜，此次擊敗勇士卓雷蒙格林，摘下年度最佳防守球員獎殊榮，同時也繼是1991-92球季「海軍上將」羅賓森之後馬刺再有球員獲得此獎。
此外，里歐納德去年幫助馬刺4比1擊敗由詹姆斯領軍的熱火，拿下總冠軍賽MVP，加上本季年度最佳防守球員獎，成為NBA史上同拿這兩個獎項的第三人（前兩人是喬丹和歐拉朱萬）。
里歐納德表示，「帕克一開賽就替球隊奠下良好基礎，我只不過是抓住機會趁勝追擊。」鄧肯也伸出大拇指稱讚里歐納德每場比賽總是有讓人驚艷演出。
73分是快艇隊史季後賽單場最低得分，第3節11分也是本季得分最少的一節，士氣在第4節徹底被擊垮。快艇教頭瑞弗斯賽後臉色鐵青表示，每當投籃不進，球員毫無退防意識，看不到他們奮戰精神。
「大鬍子」哈登就像是中國古代武俠高手虯髯客般神勇，不但攻下他個人季後賽新高42分，還送出9次助攻，「魔獸」霍華德也同樣貢獻個人季後賽新高26籃板，兩人帶領火箭130比128險勝小牛，季後賽首輪取得3比0聽牌優勢。
哈登全場24投15中，包括三分球7投5中，尤其是第三節獨拿16分，殺入敵軍如入無人之境，打得地主達拉斯大軍措手不及，也讓一度落後13分的火箭得以帶著1分領先進入決勝節。
除了哈登外，霍華德貢獻13分、26籃板，改寫他在2009年寫下的季後賽單場24籃板紀錄，也追平由歐拉朱旺與摩西馬龍共同保持的隊史紀錄，哈登賽後誇讚霍華德，「他就是一頭野獸！」
