Roots Of The Hatchetman Icp Logo

If you?re a Juggalo (or perhaps even if you?re not a Juggalo), you know that the hatchetman ICP logo is everywhere. The hatchetman, a crazy cartoon caricature of a mohawked-man with a hatchet, was originally designed by ICP member Shaggy 2 Dope when he sketched it on a napkin to be the ICP logo in ICP?s earliest days. Little did he know what a movement that drawing would spawn.

It?s never been documented, but most believe the hatchetman ICP logo symbolizes the chaos ICP tries to create for Juggalos with their music. Any anyone who?s ever been to an ICP concert can attest, to say they are chaotic would be a vast understatement.

The hatchet that hatchetman is carrying represents in picture form the violent nature of ICP?s lyrics. To top it off, this ICP logo is most commonly printed in black and red, two colors that strongly evoke doom and anger, respectively.

Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope have taken advantage of the hatchetman design?s popularity, too, embroidering it on every imaginable form of ICP merchandise. Juggalos adorn themselves with hatchetman bandanas, hatchetman necklaces, hatchetman shirts, hatchetman action figures, hatchetman hoodies, hatchetman posters, etc. The list goes on and on!

But is there more than one ICP logo? If so, what do they look like?

If we?re being truthful here, than it must be told the hatchetman is not only ICP?s logo; it?s also the logo used by the group?s record label, Psychopathic Records. But, it could be argued that ICP itself has more than one logo, though unofficially.

All Juggalos can talk about the various Joker?s cards for hours on end, and while none may call any of their designs an official ICP logo, there?s no doubt that these images stick in the heads of Juggalos and non Juggalos alike.

For instance, ICP?s Dark Carnival mythological series (that most Juggalos have memorized) is comprised of 7 Joker?s cards, each featuring an image of an evil clown. It?s pretty interesting to think that just by looking at one of the images on these Joker?s cards, a Juggalo can remember instantly what the moral lesson of the Joker?s card was.
While not ICP Logos per se, they each stand for something unique, and are just as evil looking if not more so than the more well known hatchetman.

Those two examples of ICP logos are just the tip of the iceberg. A google search under the same term will display thousands of results that, while not official ICP logos, are still artist, memorable drawings.

Other designs to represent the group include theatrical renditions of the Greek comedy and tragedy muses, just with ICP paint on. Another interesting one is a picture of hatchetman dripping blood on top of the word Juggalo (also in blood red) directly below.
