BECKHAM SAVOURS REAL HAPPY ENDING

David Beckham was all smiles last night after helping Real Madrid clinch their first Primera Liga title since 2003.
Beckham admitted earlier this week that the last 12 months had probably been the hardest of his 15-year career.
Not only did he lose his starting place with both club and country, but he also had to cope with injuries, major decisions about his future and being told in January he would never play for Madrid again.
But the former England captain was able to put all that behind him on Sunday as he won his first piece of major silverware with Madrid since joining the Spanish giants four years ago.
“It’s been an incredible experience - but all I remember now is the great things,” he said following Madrid’s 3-1 home win over Real Mallorca, a victory that clinched the title.
“Winning this tonight now puts to bed everything else.”
He added: “I couldn’t have dreamt it any better. It’s been about winning the title for the last six months - and we’ve deserved it tonight.”
Beckham has done as much as anyone over the last few months to help Madrid into a title-winning position, with the Spanish giants unbeaten in the 10 league games he has played in since coach Fabio Capello reversed his decision to drop the midfielder from his plans.
Ironically though, it was not until after Beckham - playing in his final match before moving to Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy this summer - had been substituted that Madrid finally managed to get the upper hand against Mallorca.
The home side were trailing 1-0 when Beckham was replaced by Jose Antonio Reyes in the 66th minute, but within two minutes of his arrival the on-loan Arsenal forward had drawn Madrid level.
An Angelos Basinas own-goal then put Madrid in front with nine minutes remaining before Reyes struck again just moments later to make it 3-1 and tie up the club’s 30th league title.
Beckham, who took his three sons out on the pitch after the game during the post-match celebrations, was pleased his family was there at the Bernabeu to share the experience with him.
“It’s amazing to have my family here,” he said on Sky Sports News.
“They have been with me for four years in Spain and they’ve been through the ups and downs - and they’ve felt the euphoria tonight.
“It meant the world to have everyone that supported me throughout my career - my whole family, my wife, my mum and dad, my sister and children. It’s incredible,” added Beckham, who admits he was again struggling with the ankle injury he picked up playing for England last week.
“I felt it snap again - there was a lot of pain.” he said.#
