Autobiography(for 美國國際夏令營輔導員甄選)

I was born in Taipei in1980. When I was two to five years old, I moved to the U.S. However, my parents divorced when I was five years old, and that is why I returned to Taiwan with my mother and elder brother. In order to raise us, my mother had to go to work. Therefore, she could not take care of us like other normal families, and we had an independent childhood.
When my mother was busy, I often went out to play computer games with my elder brother. I did not care about my schoolwork at all, and my accomplishments were terrible. Although I did not do well at my studies, I got lots of prizes such as recitation, lecture, caricature…. etc. Besides, I had served as a leader of hygiene and vice-class chairman. I learnt a lot regarding to deal with people from doing the administrative services.
I failed the ‘Senior High School Entrance Examination’. As my goal to enroll into the first level universities, I decided to attend Taipei senior high school. In the beginning, my school grades were at the middle level. I kept studying hard, but I still could not perform well on the rank of grades until the first exam of my second grade’s first semester. I still remember clearly that I received the first place in the whole grade for the first time. It proved that I could make it. Thus, I worked harder thereafter, and I was eventually admitted to Soochow University.
I always believed that being a student, you not only have to study but also to learn how to get along with people. I could not participate in clubs as a result of the pressure of examinations when I was a senior high school student. After attending university, I decided to manage my club career well. I joined Soochow Scouts for more than four years, and I had served as the patrol leader of Hawk, chief of Rover Crew, and cub scouts leader(Akela). Going through this period, I realized the importance of 3C(communication, cooperation, and compromise). I experienced the feelings of working together as a team, struggling for the goal, and sharing our sense of accomplishments with each other. I feel that I benefited a lot in joining Soochow Scouts.
I was one of the leaders of Harry Potter’s English academic tour group, and stayed in UK for 23 days this summer vacation. During those days, I had not only improved my English very much but also widened my views. This is my third time traveling abroad. I love traveling, but I cannot afford the traveling expenses. That was one of the reasons I took the selection of ICSP. The other main reason is the attraction of ICSP. After reading the compositions about ICSP, I was dying for being an international camp staff. I am looking forward to participate ‘Canoe Camping’, ‘Backage Packing’, and so on. Although I will encounter a lot of obstacles in the future, I will do my best to face them.
