In the desert
I saw a creature,naked,bestial.
Who,squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said,'Is it good,friend?'
'It is bitter-bitter,'he answered;
'But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart.'

在沙漠
我看到一頭獸，赤裸的，野性的
蹲踞在土地之上，
他的心臟被握在他的手裡，
並且吃了它
我說，「美味嗎，朋友？」
「它是苦的─苦的」他如此回答；
「但我喜歡
因為它是苦的，
而且因為它是我的心臟。」
