The Best Day of My Life

Last summer, i went back to Taiwan for vacation,
and as soon as i came back to New Jersey, school was about to start.
In September, the school had started and one of my best friends brought me to church on a Friday.
That day, September 18th, was the first day i met him, Shane.
But at first, he pushed me away.
His friend, Alex, told Shane that he likes me.
Shane cares about his friends a lot, so he gave this change to Alex.

I like Alex, but only as friend. I do not need a boyfriend who act like a child,
it is annoying, so i never wanted to date.
As months past, Shane got a girlfriend in November.
He brought her to church every Friday, i felt hopeless because she was very beautiful,
and i just a little high schoolgirl.
But in December, i never saw her again.
Then, finally, Alex had told me that Shane break up with her long time ago.
I was shocked but happy because i thought i might have a chance.

During the holidays in December, Shane and i got closer.
Before Christmas, was Alex's birthday, we celebrate at a Malaysian restaurant.
It snowed very hard, Shane gave Alex and my other best friend, Carina and me a ride.
We dropped Carina home first, then Alex, then Finally me.
But both of us got stuck in the snow, we spent hours to get home.
We were singing in the car and we had a lot of fun together.
i still get excited if i think about that night.

On Christmas, we had parties together and he always gave me a ride,
so i baked some brownies for him to show my appreciation.
After three days partying, on December 27th, he gave me a ride home.
He said goodbye to me because the 28th i was going to Canada.
He took those brownies from my hand and gave me a long hug.
I was melting but i did not show him my happiness.
When my family and i came back from Canada, it was the morning of the 31st.
i went into my room and opened up my laptop.
He was still online and he asked me,
if i wanted to go out at night to celebrate the new year together.
And of course i said yes to him.

On December 31st, he picked me up at night time,
I remember that day was a raining one.
We waited for one of his friends, Ryan at the outside of a pool hall.
Shane and i talked in the car.
Suddenly, we both were quiet, then he started to talk about us.
He said when i went to Canada, my friends talked to him a lot,
and it was all about me.
And he thought about many things and finally he had decided to ask me,
"so...will you give me a chance to be your boyfriend?"
I cried out loud when i heard him say that, and i yelled, "OF COURSE!"
We went into the pool hall and then went to sing karaoke after playing pool.
We held on to each other's hand, we were singing and counting down.
He said happy new year to me and he gave me a kiss.
It was the best day ever.
