愛爾蘭遊唱詩人Chris de Burgh，從小住在一座古堡裡，後來隨著當外交官的父親，居無定所的周遊列國，他的旅人經歷與漂泊心情，常在歌曲中展露無疑。
他的歌聲總帶著些許滄桑，卻又感性深情，大家最耳熟能詳的，莫過於他在1986年英國排行榜的冠軍歌曲「紅衣女郎」～The Lady In Red。
唸書時辦舞會，或者工作上辦活動時，【The Lady In Red】這首歌總是不會漏掉。
動人的旋律，Chris de Burgh 深情微顫的感性歌聲，一個男子娓娓道出對心儀女子的深情告白，那樣的自然流暢，難怪廣受歡迎。

Chris de Burgh 擅長在歌曲裡說故事。他的創作取材相當廣泛，從愛情、親情、歷史、戰爭，到敘事、寫景...每一首歌曲幾乎都蘊含一段感人的故事，許多歌曲充滿了特殊的異國風味。像齊豫就曾翻唱他的一首描述戰爭殘酷的傷感名曲【Borderline】；陳淑樺早期也曾翻唱【The Girl With April In Her Eyes】（風中哭泣的女孩）。
高中時期開始買他的錄音帶，最喜愛的是1979年出版的專輯【Crusader】～十字軍東征。其中的【Just In Time】、【Carry On】...；還有1988年的暢銷流行情歌【Missing You】（不是John Waite 1983年那首 Missing You 喔...^^）；1998年【Beautiful Dreams】精選集中還收錄了幾首老歌新唱，像【Girl】（The Beatles 的老歌）【Always On My Mind】（貓王的老歌，Willie Nelson 等多位藝人重新翻唱過）等情歌，都讓人驚喜。
而我個人最喜愛的一首，是他在1975年【Far Beyond These Castle Walls】專輯裡的最後一首歌～【Goodnight】，這是一首溫暖的小品。
談到這首【Goodnight】，就不禁憶起當年...
高中時期，余光的節目伴隨著許多五年級同學的成長歲月...從奧斯蒙兄妹, 貓王, LOBO灰狼, Rod Steward, ABBA, Carpenters, Beatles, Bee Gees, Eagles, Barbra Striesand, Olivia Newton John, Don Mclean...還有黃鶯鶯Tracy 翻唱的許多流行好歌...到後來的Air Supply來台演唱...哎呀...扯遠了...^^~
有一夜，隨性的轉著收音機，聽到一個不急不徐、感性內鍊，聽過就讓人難忘的迷人嗓音，比ICRT裡的固定廣告感性女聲（許多廣告的配音）還要迷人～～那是軍中之聲的一個西洋音樂節目，主持人叫「徐凡」，她所介紹的西洋音樂我從沒聽過。從此我才知道，原來，余光所介紹的只是時下流行的西洋歌曲；除了美國的Billboard 和Cash Box 之外，還有許多很棒的音樂。
她的節目總在深夜播出，後來我也因此認識了一些搖滾、Jazz藍調、鄉村音樂......像 Led Zepplin, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Joe Jackson, Al Jarreau, David Bowie, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Queen, Black Sabbath, Santana, Fleetwood Mac...。
她有好長一段時間，總是在節目尾聲播放 Chris de Burgh 的【Goodnight】，真是最美的晚安曲！
她曾經因為出國而節目暫停過一段時間，那一夜她在節目結束前啜泣，訴說今晚將是最後一次播出時，我跟著她流淚...。
後來，聽說她回國了。幾年前的某個深夜裡，我在車上又不經意的聽到她熟悉的聲音，興奮的不能自已，眼框不自主的濕潤了。現在，你還可以在每個星期六與星期日晚上10:00到11:00 在FM 漢聲廣播電台（ http://www.voh.com.tw ）聽到這位知名的資深西洋音樂評論家的廣播節目「星光燦爛」！
