常見的授與動詞與介系詞的搭配:
(1) 介系詞通常用to的授與動詞:
give、send、 show、sell、teach、cause、read、mail、pay、tell、grant等 + DO + to + IO
‧He showed his painting to me. → He showed me his painting.
‧I will pay all the money to you. → I will pay you all the money.
‧The mother read a story to her child. → The mother read her child a story.
(2) 介系詞通常用for的授與動詞:
leave、get、buy、choose、make、do、cook、find、play等 + DO + for + IO
‧Get a piece of paper for me. → Get me a piece of paper.
‧She made a new hat for her sister. → She made her sister a new hat.
‧He played a love song for me. → He played me a love song.
(3) 介系詞通常用of的授與動詞:
ask等 + DO + of + IO
‧I ask a favor of them. → I ask them a favor.
補 充 (1) 若直接受詞為代名詞時,則較常用Vt + DO + prep. + IO的句型。例: ‧I will give them to my mother. (2) 若直接受詞和間接受詞均為代名詞時,則較常用Vt + IO + DO。例: ‧He showed me this. (3) 若直接受詞為it時,則較常用Vt + DO + prep. + IO。例: ‧I will give it to you. |
2. It seems that S + V.... → S + seem(s) to + V....
本課進階句型用以表示「不是很精確的推論」。中文譯為「似乎」,類似的用法還有appear。
‧It seems/appears that he has no courage to tell the truth.
→ He seems/appears to have no courage to tell the truth.
若要表示「持續一段時間」、「已發生或過去的事」,則用「seem to + have V-en」。
‧It seems that he has learned about the secret. → He seems to have learned about the secret.
‧ It seems that Mary forgot about the meeting.
→ Mary seems to have forgotten about the meeting.
‧It seems that the old lady was rich before. → The old lady seems to have been rich before.
補 充 happen和chance的用法與seem類似 ‧It happened/chanced that I was out when you called. → I happened/chanced to be out when you called. |
補 充 與cat相關的用語或諺語尚有: let the cat out of the bag 洩露祕密 like a cat on hot bricks 侷促不安,如坐針氈 fight like cat and dog 激烈地爭鬥、吵架等 rain cats and dogs 下傾盆大雨 put the cat among the pigeons 引起軒然大波 ‧A cat has nine lives. 貓有九條命。(→生命力強) ‧Care killed a/the cat. 憂慮傷身。 |
補 充 與dog相關的用語或諺語尚有: not have a dog's chance 機會渺茫 a dog's life 悲慘的生活 dog eat dog 競爭激烈 dog in the manger 占著茅坑不拉屎的人 ‧You can't teach an old dog new tricks.你沒辦法教老狗新把戲。(年老守舊的人學不來新的事物) ‧Love me, love my dog. 愛屋及烏。 |
