My Fair Lady(窈窕淑女)觀後感

After watching this worldwide well-known movie, I think that in a sense “Pretty Woman” is quite like the modern version of it. Although both of them were all romantic comedies, however, in “My Fair Lady” it wanted to discuss not only the power of love but also the existence of chauvinism==||When listening to the songs such as “Ordinary Man” or “A Hymn to Him”, it was very clear that the leading actor, Henry Higgins, demised female’s ability as well as their independence. He thought that women were inferior to men in many aspects and they definitely couldn’t live without men. Besides, Henry Higgins thought highly of himself (very likely), so he enjoyed being a bachelor very much^^|| On the other hand, since Eliza was a character who was eager to change her flower-girl life in her own way, we might understand that she was different from the stereotype of other feminine who were obedient to their own destines at her time. Furthermore because she didn’t receive good care from her father in childhood, so without no doubt that she would unconsciously fall in love with Henry Higgins who taught her strictly and wanted her to become the best! In psychology, it’s called Electra complex. But however, she still wanted to be treated as a lady with nice manner. Therefore, at first Eliza couldn’t agree with Henry Higgins’s attitude and left him with her heart broken> < Thankfully, in the end, she understood that was how he got along with everyone regardless of one’s social class or preference. (“I treats a duchess as if she were a flower girl ….“)时 So, Love just has the magical power to let the lovers accept each other’s disadvantages……As for Henry Higgins, there were two causes for him to be obsessed with Eliza. First, for he had never stick with a girl in such a long period of time, so it was very likely that he might accustomed to the existence and companion of Eliza (the line “she always makes the day begin”)^^ Second, Eliza was a very special and energetic woman who differed from others a lot(mentioned above)! And what Eliza desired was not a marriage (commitment), but a more friendly-like relationship between them. Eventually, Henry Higgins faced his true feeling for Eliza by singing “I’ve Grown Accustomed to her Face”~^^~ How sweet……..v
Now, I’m interested in discussing the personalities of some important characters. In fact, Henry Higgins was not as mature as he seemed to be :p It could be testified from the ways he argued with Eliza or the childish comments for Freddy ^-V Moreover, he was also a guy who sought for freedom! He only did what he liked to do and it was impossible for him to truckle people more powerful than him. In some ways, Henry Higgins could be called a hermit时(That was why he despised Zoltar Karpathy so much). As for Eliza, she was a passionate girl who could compensate for Higgins’s indifference to affection. And after the long talk with him, she understood Henry Higgins’s position and decided to be with him again v Of course, the leading actor knew this, too. Hence, the last line he said was, “Where the Devil are my slippers.” (Oops…..no change of attitude at all) For myself, I like Freddy this character most^0^ In my opinion, that was the kind of gentleman Eliza was looking for in the very beginning (according to the love song “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly”). Yet I have to admit that sometimes love which grows within time is much more valuable^^ (anyway, I still admire Freddy very much……)
Here, I particularly want to share my preference for two meaningful scenes in the film v One was all the rush for Henry Higgins & Colonel Pickering when Eliza left the house after the ball (even called to the police station^-V). But it was at that specific moment, Henry Higgins revealed his reliance on her~~~ The other was the last scene. Instead of the old- fashioned happy ending, it just let Henry Higgins say the old line “Where the Devil are my slippers”. However, from the facial expression of Eliza and Higgins’s pretended relaxation, we watchers may know that they’ll always be together!! How touching> <
In addition, I’d love to talk about the style how this movie was presented. Mainly, it used rather romantic and funny music to connect most of the scenes (bravo). The costumes inside the film were also extreme beautiful, especially when worn by Audrey Herpen!! By seeing the film, it reminded me of a recent well-known movie “The Moulin Rouge”. They have many techniques in common*0* Of course, most important of all, both of them are worth seeing masterpieces时
By the way, despite what I mention above, I’m amazed to find that one’s pronunciation can change the impression for other’s this dramatically. From this time on, I surely will practice my pronunciation diligently (the horrible London Cockney) ==|| Haha………..
