Good morning everyone. Today we are going to talk about how to manage our body weight & explain why this is important to keep our body status well.

First, why should we need to have weight management?
1.It’s absolutely for maintaining our health.
Nothing will be more important than a healthy body. Without health, we can do nothing. Have you ever heard a proverb says that “we are what we eat”? That means our healthy can only be built up by ourselves, not by any other person!

2.Prevent some chronic disease caused by overweight or a bad diet habit, such as Diabetes Mellitus (known as DM), Hypertension (HTN), and Cardiovascular Dz. (CVD). These kinds of Dz. Normally link into a salty, high cholesterol diet.

And so, How to manage our bodyweight?
1.Choose a balance & variety diet. (As you can see form the picture, this picture is from the United States Agriculture Dept., known as “my pyramid”. Why it is called MY pyramid? Coz you can create by entering some basic information such as sex, age, height & weight; and it will suggest you and calculate how many portions of food you should eat everyday, you can learn how to create your own diet plan and Qualify your eating form different category of foods.) You can search in the USDA website to create your own pyramid.

2.Keep checking your bodyweight & health status (BMI, Body Fat percentage...)

3.Your lifestyle also influences your BW, sedentary or active, Coz how much energy expenditure depends on our BMR, our working out-put in our daily lives? When our daily activities decrease, out metabolism will decrease and then there will be extra energy (stores inside our body and turns into body fat). If the quantity of input unequal or >> than out-put. Then we just put on weight.

4.People always say that they were slim and healthy as they were young. “Why we eat the same portion of foods as we were young, why we are still putting on weight?”During the lifespan, our nutrition & energy needs are different from time to time, and depends on our health status and daily activities…( In order to increase your Basal Metabolic rate, ypou need to enhance your daily activity, and also to level up the circulation in our body.) Let exercise be a habit throughout your life
