se7en

the best movie about serial killer i have ever seen. famous movies in this sub-genre include 'copycat' and the 'dr. lecter' trilogy, also the 'manhunter' by michael mann. we could also cover the marginal 'the cell' starred by jennifer lopez which owned sf elements like mind-travelling. however, 'se7en' is a movie in its own class. while the others are focus on one to two serial killers and nothing more than a cat-and-mice movie or a mystery-solving movie, 'se7en' looks like a whodunit movie but it is a whydunit movie actually. the excuse to kill people is sin which leads to the shocking ending. the best quote to illustrate this idea is 'we see a deadly sin on every street corner, in every home, and we tolerate it. we tolerate it because it's common, it's trival. We tolerate it morning, noon, and night'. the motive of the killer is definitely not sustainable, but the movie is a modern film noir more than just serial killer for sure .
