Professional Stage Door Keeper

 
“I am a professional door keeper.

A stage door keeper, a noble door keeper.

I am a professional door keeper,

Guarding the gates, side and back.”

“What exactly do you do?” you’d ask.

“I greet the stars, working stiffs,

As they come through the gates,

Down the alley, and up the steps.”

“Anything fun in your work?” you’d continue.

“Part gatekeeper and part spectator,

I oversaw eight productions,

All breath-taking, magnificent and grand.”

“And what do you do today?” you’d request.

“Ah ha, honey, honey! Just look at my back.

Didn’t you see the sign, in silver and black?

It’s the ninth. And it’ll be equally great!”
