每次讀《清秀佳人》都有點不好意思。都幾歲的人了，還在看少女小說！這一系列的小說裡，我特別喜歡第一集和第四集。

第一集《綠莊安妮》是大家都熟悉的：紅髮安妮像小木偶一樣長大變成真正的小孩，只不過小木偶皮諾丘的歷程是「男孩式」的冒險犯難，安妮被放在安全的空間裡面。

到了第四集，安妮已經當了老師，她不但繼續讓心裡的小女孩保持「幼稚」，也想辦法讓身邊的人都變得和她一樣禁諷耐諷、不畏風雨。每次我碰到怪人害得心情浮動的時候，只要拿起這一段讀一下就會笑得一樣開懷。老實說我也不知道爲什麼。這一段對話我還抄在筆記本裡兩次！！故事到這裡是：安妮的同事凱薩琳是個難纏古怪又刻薄的傢伙，常常讓安妮下不了台。實際上她也有一段不為人知的坎坷童年。聖誕節前夕，安妮想邀她去綠莊渡假，可是一進到她的宿舍寢室就被削一頓，從頭「酸」到尾。可是，安妮沒放棄，她完全忽略凱薩琳的指控，逕自問完她本來就要問的話。


Katherine: You asked me to Green Gables just because you are sorry for me.
Anne: I am sorry for you. Because you’ve shut out life and now life is shutting you out. Stop, it, Katherine. Open your doors to life…and life will come in.
Katherine: The Anne Shirley version of the old bromide, “If you bring a smiling visage to the glass you meet a smile.”
Anne: Like all bromides, that’s absolutely true. Now, are you coming to Green Gables or are you not?
Katherine: What would you say if I accepted…to yourself, not to me?
Anne: I’d say you were showing the first faint glimmer of common sense I’d ever detected in you.
