Book Dot and Sophie’s masterpiece are mainly talking about how a person achieve their masterpiece. The difference from those two books is that the little girl, Wei Wei, in DOT, didn’t like to paint and doesn’t dare to try at first. She thought she couldn’t paint well and didn’t have the ability in art. After Wei Wei’s teacher gave her confidence, she started to try and come up with many ideas on her paint. She was not afraid at all, and had more interest. When Wei wei was painting, she had more and more brainwave and creativity, so she had less and less afraid on painting. But a spider named Sophie in Sophie’s masterpiece is a genius of art. She was confident in herself. Sophie’s pulse to work is to help other people. She thought her works will bring influences on many people. But when she worked, she was getting unhappy. No matter what to do, she was always rejected by the people because she was just a annoying spider! Although there are so many difficulties to Sophie to do her works, she still didn’t give up. Sophie used her last life to weave a cover to a woman who has a baby. I think there are nothing can stop her mind to help other people even if have had so many rejections. She didn’t care about what others think; the way she faced her problems was keep going as she could. Wei Wei’s situation changed from being afraid to zealous, but Sophie was getting depressed until the end. Although there is a big diversity between them, both of them all have the masterpiece in the end. Why they all reached the goal and be successful? I think one of the keys is that they all tried their best and made many efforts, so they can approach their success. The book Dot’s contents are clearer and easier than Sophie’s masterpiece’s.
The contents in Dot described a little girl met difficulties during painting, and finally she overcame the problems and got success. In the story Dot, because Wei Wei got the confidence from her teacher, so she became not so afraid to paint. And in Sophie’s masterpiece this story, Sophie relied on her own interest of working and the help other’s mind, she kept going to the end and approached her goal. Both of them in the story all approve by other people. I think because they did the biggest effort. The first step to success from Wei Wei was probably that when she draw the little dot on the paper; because if she didn’t start this first step, she won’t have the confidence to draw any other things. And to Sophie, I think when she paid her heart to weave the cover, she had already been successful!
