最近 巴黎 實在是太忙，都沒有時間寫新的電子報。之前原本還要寫我去參加美國總統就職大典的有趣經歷，也沒空。昨天晚上才剛剛從哥倫比亞大學參加一項研討會，趕夜車回來，覺得全身乏力！不過情人節將到，又剛好有這一首好聽的爵士歌曲，令我聯想到一幅我很喜歡的名畫，就介紹給大家，希望每個人都能過個浪漫的情人節！

☆ Madeleine Peyroux 瑪德蓮皮洛絲
認識這個女孩是她一九九六年的出道專輯《Dreamland》《夢土》。說到唱腔模仿，或說歌聲相似 Billie Holiday 的歌手，從以前到現在都不缺乏，有趣的是大部分都是白人歌手；不過真正為人所記得的，並且頗有新意的，卻不多。之前介紹過好幾次，來自 New Orlean 紐奧良 的 Ingrid Luica 英格麗露西雅 融合 Swing Jazz，並且以比較快樂方式演唱，雖然是 Billie 式的唱腔，卻有迥然不同的風味。而這位 Madeleine Peyroux 瑪德蓮皮洛絲，由於歌曲中帶著比較重的藍調味，跟 Billie Holiday 的質感很接近，卻沒有那麼草根與苦情。原來是因為她曾經在法國巴黎待了好一陣子，所以音樂中更加入香頌以及歐洲民謠的情感。也因此，她的兩張專輯當中，都有法文歌曲。第一張專輯中是 Edith Piaf 依迪絲皮亞芙 著名的〈La Vie en Rose〉〈玫瑰人生〉，第二張專輯中是 Josephine Baker 喬瑟芬貝可 的名曲〈J'ai Deux Amours〉〈兩個愛人〉。

在她於二○○四年發行的第二張專輯《Careless Love》《恣意的愛》當中，這首翻唱自 Leonard Cohen 的〈Dance Me To the End of Love〉〈共舞至愛的盡頭〉，讓我很有感覺，也讓我想起一名蘇格蘭畫家的名畫。以下是這首歌的歌詞；以後有機會再翻譯給大家，不過先嘗試一下原文的美妙！雖然說歌名當中有個 End，但是內容卻是樂觀的。她希望的是，能夠長長久久，一直舞下去，把握在愛中，歡樂開心的每一刻。就像〈I Will Always Love You〉其實是分手的歌一樣，這首〈Dance Me To the End of Love〉〈共舞至愛的盡頭〉並不如字面上的悲觀，反而是樂天的。

這就是我喜歡的蘇格蘭畫家 Jack Vettriano 的名畫，『Dance me to the End of Love』『共舞至愛的盡頭』。這幅畫也在我房間的牆上！

除了在色調上、氛圍上的優雅動人之外，我更喜歡它的構圖與構思。一對對的戀人，如履薄冰的親密共舞，舞向白茫茫的霧中，就像對於未來的不確定。但是只要兩人能夠互相支持、互相協調舞步，堅定的踏著舞步，在遙遠的那方，有著太陽照耀，而希望的光芒，也照亮了兩人現在共舞的每一吋土地。
