之前的幾個月，在開車時常會聽到ICRT播放這首歌，坦白說，在環境噪音的影響下，除了一句「one more time」外，還真不知是在唱些什麼？感覺像是非英語系的東南亞歌手的搞笑歌曲，而今天終於由電台的歌單中查出是這首《Dance Monkey》。

此曲為澳洲女歌手Tones and I於去年(2019)年中所發行個人的第2首單曲(在美國則為首支單曲)，說來令人難以置信，2019-2020，此曲在超過30個國家拿下排行榜的冠軍，另在許多國家則為前10名，其中在美國告示牌流行排行榜是第4。除了打破好幾個排行榜 ( 如UK ) 停留週數的記錄，並獲「澳洲唱片業協會」提名8項音樂獎，結果奪得了「最佳女歌手」及「最佳新人」等4個獎項。

Tones and I原在墨爾本一家服飾店工作並兼為「街頭藝人」，後辭去工作改為全職走唱。又由於停車不便的問題，將演唱地點移到新南威爾斯的拜倫灣 (Byron Bay)，在該處遇到了日後的經紀人Jackson Walkden-Brown，也應算是她的「貴人」，從此展開了她歌唱事業的新頁。

據Tones and I在接受電台DJ訪談時提到，歌詞所寫的，是她在街頭演唱時，為了娛樂觀眾而帶來的壓力、及一些的互動與感受。觀眾不喜歡妳就自顧自的玩手機，喜歡妳則會喊「再來！再來！」，倘若將歌詞中的「dance for me, dance for me」改成「sing for me, sing for me」，就會十分地傳神 ( 而Tones and I說她不願寫的如此直白)。由於經常受觀眾的情緒和要求所左右，使得她覺得自己像一隻「訓練有素的猴子」。

至於Tones and I的年齡，如今仍是個迷團，有1993或是2000出生的兩種說法，而她自己也不點破，還樂得讓大家猜，真是有夠「無聊」。有人說此曲屬「洗腦神曲」，雖然是新歌，還是介紹給大家來聽聽看。
