老歌亂談(855)Mendocino
此曲為美國鄉村搖滾樂團The Sir Douglas Quintet於1969所推出專輯《Mendocino》的同名主打歌曲，在告示牌熱門榜獲得第27名。
The Sir Douglas Quintet於1964成立於德州的San Antonio ( 聖安東尼奧 )，由於當時英國樂團大舉侵入美國 造成風潮 ( British Invasion ) ，是而故意取了個有些像是英國樂團的團名，就是想藉由「魚目混珠」來得到一些注意。而問題是，五名團員中有二人為西班牙裔，所以在早期的樂團相片中，會刻意以側面來避開，以免立即就穿幫了。
樂團的靈魂人物，當然就是主唱Doug Sahm了。Sham在5歲時就已上電台表演，11歲時出了第一張唱片；1952，12歲時在Skyline俱樂部和鄉村歌曲傳奇人物Hank Williams同台作秀 ( Hank Williams於1953的新年，在趕赴下一場作秀所時死在車上，Skyline也是他最後作秀的場所。)，13歲時受邀至Grand Ole Opry ( 位於田納西州的納許維爾，固定每週一次的鄉村歌曲表演場所，能名列此表演舞台的歌手，代表在鄉村音樂受到一定程度的肯定。) 作固定演出，但Sahm的母親要他先將初中唸完。

Doug Sahm頗具寫歌才華，1965，The Sir Douglas Quintet即以一首他所寫的《She's About a Mover》分別打進美、英排行榜的第13及第15名 ( 後此曲被前披頭合唱團的鼓手Ringo Starr翻唱，出現在他1983的專輯《Old Wave》中 )，而此首《Mendocino》也是Doug Sahm所寫。Mendocino為美國加州的一個地區名，2010年的人口普查，該社區的人口數為894人，約93%為白人。由歌詞來看，應該是個悠閒生活的好地方。
