老歌亂談(775)Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye
此首《Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye》為美國歌手兼詞曲作家John D. Loudermilk所寫 ( Loudermilk的另首《Indian Reservation》，亦為知名暢銷曲。)，1962由Don Cherry以鄉村曲風首錄發行，但未有何迴響。之後有doo-wop合唱團體The Casinos ( 成員最多時有9人 ) 在俱樂部演唱此曲，迭獲觀眾好評，而決定錄製唱片發行 ( 1967 )，果然在告示牌流行排行榜拿下了第6名的佳績，成為了國際暢銷曲 ( 而該合唱團體也僅此首知名暢銷曲 )。此時，原作者Loudermilk眼見此曲行情不錯，也推出了自己的版本，結果卻是以失敗告終。
歷年來翻唱此曲的歌手、團體眾多，較知名的有Eddy Arnold ( 1968 / Country Singles / #1 )、Neal McCoy ( 1996 / Country Songs / #4 ) 以及Andy Williams、Glen Campbell、Johnny Mathis、The Manhattans等等。
Neal McCoy的母親為菲律賓裔、父親為愛爾蘭裔美國人。
滿不錯的一首情歌，有「愛不到妳，珍重再見！」的意境。雖然不捨，而願和平分手，看來這位老兄的「愛情學分」有修及格。
