此曲為美國詞曲作家Wayne Walker與也是歌手的Webb Pierce所合寫，首由加拿大女歌手Joyce Smith於1962錄唱發行。

Joyce Smith的版本發行前某日，美國知名女歌手Patsy Cline在Smith的製作人Owen Bradley的辦公室，聽到了Smith錄唱的此首《 Leavin' on Your Mind》，即想據為己有，但Bradley說，不行，妳不能拿走，我要看看那個加拿大姑娘如何地演繹它。Joyce Smith錄唱此首的單曲發行後，雖未能進入排行榜前40名，但銷量超過了10萬張，對於是她的首張唱片來說，已經算是成功的了，除了讓Bradley能回收在錄音室的花費，也能從版稅中收取些利益。

Owen Bradley & Patsy Cline

1962稍晚，Patsy Cline也在Bradley的錄音室錄製了此曲，並於1963年初發行，在告示牌熱門百強排行榜僅獲得第83名，卻在鄉村榜上奪得第8名，迄今仍是鄉村音樂的經典之作。Patsy Cline於1963年3月因飛機失事身亡 ( 30歲 )，此曲也為其生前所發行的最後一首單曲。

此曲的歌詞內容淺顯，意思是若對方變心了，應據實以告，大家好聚好散，以便另覓良緣。而在真實的愛情中，雙方能灑脫分手的情況並不易見。翻唱此曲的歌手眾多，包含有Loretta Lynn、Lorrie Morgan、LeAnn Rimes等，以下另貼澳-美女歌手Jamie O'Neal的版本 ( 2011 )。
