1977，年僅23歲的美國演員John Travilta ( 約翰屈伏塔 ) 主演歌舞電影《Saturday Night Fever》 ( 台譯:周末的狂熱 )，片中配合了澳洲樂團Bee Gees的Disco歌曲，獲得了商業上巨大的成功，Travilta還被提名奧斯卡最佳男演員，可說是一舉成名。

1978，為了接續之前的影片熱潮，John Travilta又和澳籍女歌手Olivia Newton-John合演了同樣是歌舞片的《Grease》 ( 台譯:火爆浪子 )，也果如預期，不僅票房大賣，電影中的歌曲專輯在該年也是最佳銷售的第2名 ( 僅次於前述的Saturday Night Fever)，影片中的一首由Newton-John主唱的《Hopelessly Devoted to You》，除了被提名奧斯卡最佳原創歌曲獎，單曲還獲得告示牌熱門百大的第3名。而此首《You're the One That I Want》更是厲害，不僅奪得排行榜的冠軍，在全球的銷售量超過了1500萬張，為歷來最佳銷售單曲的第14名。

在影片中，Newton-John一改之前鄰家女孩的可愛模樣，而以「女阿飛」的造型出現，在其演藝生涯中算是僅見，其實在演出《Grease》時，Newton-John已經30歲了，比Travilta大了6歲。Travilta之後又演了許多部電影，但似乎都不怎麼樣，直到1994的《Pulp Fiction》( 台譯:黑色追輯令 )，才讓他聲勢再起。最近電影台常在播Travilta於2024主演的《Cash Out》 ( 台譯:劫後清算 ) 及續集，感覺還是普普。而Travilta最酷的是，除了會開飛機，也擁有4架飛機，其中還包括一架原屬於澳洲航空的波音707，而且還可直接停放在他位於佛羅里達州私人機場中自家的門前，沒辦法，有些有錢人就是騷包、愛現。

1992，Olivia Newton-John首次確診罹患乳癌，2013及2017分別復發及擴散至骨骼，2022在加州的家中去世，享年73歲，John Travilta也對她致以哀悼與敬意。
